wonderful bird watching tour
Mar 2019
We (family with two kids) visited Sri Lanka in June 2018 and had a great time with Dhilip at a bird watching & walking tour. He knows everything about every bird. We had a lucky day spotting some rare sighted birds. He knows exactly where they are and you can watch them very close and clear seeing all their beautiful colours with his binocular. He is a great talented guide and very enjoyable to spend time with him. Will definitely recommend him to all visiting Sri Lanka and are nature lovers.
Wish to come back soon to this paradise on earth.

Knowlegable, entertaining and excellent guide
Dec 2019
We spent a day and a half with Dhilip in and around Habarana, visiting Eco Park and Ritigala. Dhilip is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and we unreservedly recommend him to any visitors to this remarkable part of Sri Lanka.

Dhilip's bird knowledge is superb, and he is full of detailed information about each bird and animal that we spotted.

In addition, Dhilip has a detailed understanding of the ancient ruins dotted around the island, making him an effective wildlife-and-ruins guide.

As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Dhilip, he knows a reliable, conservation-certified jeep driver to hire, and organised our stay at Amba Sewana, just outside Habarana.

100% recommended!

My second bird walk with Dhilip in the Habarana area. He’s wonderful, knows so much about birds and where to find them. Good English and nice sense of humour. Passionate about the environment and conservation. Highly recommended.

Dhilip is an exceptional naturalist and is fostering an encyclopedia of knowledge on wildlife, Great guide with extremely detailed and unforgettable walkarounds, trecks or safaris. I was lucky to do all these with him and gain some of his knowledge of wildlife. It was Dhilip passion and enthusiasm that made me also to love nature more.
Dhilip is very attentive not only to the environment the wild lives and the guest (us) given he is an amazing wildlife photographer also it is an amazing and a unique opportunity for you to see the nature at it best. if you are looking for a luxurious, detailed and worthy wildlife tour join with Dhilip he is one of the best if not the best.

Great bird guide!
Dec 2018 • Solo
Dhilip, the resident naturalist, has a keen sense of observation and has acquired a vast knowledge of local birds in the area and Sri Lanka. He took me out for a morning trip that revealed scores of birds (55 in total during that morning walk alone). Subsequently we went for other birds within The Other Corner compounds that brought the total in the area to 80 species, several of which are Sri Lankan endemics - woodshrike, grey hornbill, brown-capped babbler etc. A lot of information was freely shared about identification tips, known places for specific endemics elsewhere in Sri Lanka etc. In the end, the one thing that sets him apart from other guides is his ability to 'tune' into the needs of the birder/group he is accompanying. For photographers, he will not bring his spotting scope and adjust his style to ensure they get the best shots possible.

Dhilip is the must-go-to person for guidance on lowland birds in north-central Sri Lanka. His stint as resident naturalist in The Other Corner is a big plus for those keen on nature but reluctant to forsake creature comforts and accessibility.

Hugely knowledgable and a charming guide

Dhilip took us out from the Other Corner at Habarana, for an early morning bird spottin* walk around the lake. Dhilip really knows what to look out for and where each is most likely to be found at different times. He guides you with such authority and charm that you begin to feel like the “spotter”,building your own portfolio of “finds”. Worth seeking him out

Enthusiastic and knowledgable

The resident naturalist at The Other Corner, we went for a 6am walk around Habarana Lake. Dhilip’s guidance was terrific - we saw 33 species of birds. 1.5 hours. At the end he gives you a tick sheet showing what you’ve seen - unless you’re a real enthusiast, you’ll never remember! Recommended.

Great time with Dhilip!
Aug 2018
So today we went for a nice walk with Dhlip to spot some birds and walk around the garden. We are not really ‘bird enthusiasts’, but Dhilip kinda made us. He has a lot of knowledge about all these kind of birds, it’s really fun. Afterwards we went to the garden and had a nice time with the farmer. Dhilip also knows his way around the garden, so it’s a very educative trip. We also had a lot of laughs. I would recommend this trip if you stay near ‘the other corner’!

Wonderful Experience
Jun 2018 • Family
An absolute highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka was the bird watching with Dhilip at The Other Corner. Felt so fortunate that our early morning stroll seeing so many birds was included in the price of the hotel. Even my husband and daughter were enthralled and they are not nearly as obsessed by birds as I am! It was great to do this at the start of our three weeks as I felt much more equipped to identify birds thereafter and I'm happy to say Dhillip that I saw woodpeckers and more painted storks. I also purchased the Helm Field Guide in Kandy as recommended. Thank you so much.
