We were staying in Milan but remembered visiting Isola Bella years ago. We took the train from Milan to Stresa which was about an hour and then the ferry to Isola Bella. Spent a lovely afternoon wandering the grounds and admiring the gardens and mansion. I highly recommend this as a day trip from Milan.

We visited here in late May. We were staying in Domeletto. We took the train to Stressa and then a small boat to the island. We had read about the wonderful gardens on the island however It was not easy to find the entrance! You have walk through the House as there is no separate entrance to see the gardens.But... More

Isola Bella is the main island of the three situated on Lake Maggiore Once at Stresa it is very easy to get to the Islands with ferries running between the three Islands, Baveno and Stresa every 30 minutes. Isola Superiore is largely restaurants. Unless you want to eat you can give it a miss. Isola Madre has beautiful gardens while... More

We arrived to Stressa by train and walked down to the ferry area. Found the men there helpful. Took a large ferry over to the island but had 2 other pick ups to do. This was an added plus as we got to see the other islands at no extra charge. You must go through the palace before getting to... More

We chose to do our tour on a Sunday afternoon where we started at 3 PM. It was crowded and there were no audio guides available. It is a beautiful mansion with rooms containing gorgeous artwork and furniture and some of the rooms you could see chandeliers made with Murano glass. Other rooms contained information where history was made. One... More

We visited the island and the palace and the garden with 4y and 6y old, and we all very very impressed. Even having travelled extensive around europe, I have never seen anything like this palace in the island, there is photographing ban so there is not much pictures you can find in internet, but the inside of the palace is... First think is not to go on private charter boats these guys grab you as soon as you enter the car park at the ferry terminal, you think they are officials of the ferry company and they are not, they get you booked on private hire boats, which. Are more expensive & less services running between islands. Disappointed that when you... More

We parked in the public parking lot near the marina. There are people who help you park and purchase your tickets to go out to the island. They are working for independents who run boats back and forth. The price was a little bit higher (10Euro round trip) than if you went through the official ferry service (i think it... More
