Great place but needs improvement

The Schloss is a lovely old baroque hunting lodge with a central house and several buildings set around it. Some of the buildings are locked up and some have basic exhibits. With imagination and work, this place could be a gem of a tourist attraction.
All the information boards were just in German. The addition of English would be an advantage for foreign visitors.

Interesting castle in a different style
Aug 2018 • Couples
We stopped at this Jagdschloss to have some lunch while on a journey and I wish we had had more time to explore. It is built in a style that I am not accustomed to, with the main castle in the centre and guesthouses (presumably for hunting guests) encircling it on a grid pattern which radiates from the main building. Each of these now houses something different - a museum, the restaurant. It is very formal and baroque with a path down to the water. They have recently restored the baroque monastery garden, which I would have liked to see. The main castle has emblems on the side depicting things to do with hunting.
They host events like concerts or art exhibitions and weddings are held here. While we had lunch a bride and groom were wandering round having photos taken.
The restaurant was pleasant and the staff friendly. The beer was welcome and the food good, although it took a while to come. Luckily there was plenty to look at.
It's a bit off the beaten track but worth a detour.

A pleasant visit
Sep 2017 • Friends
The area was pretty, the buildings were nice. But we couldn't get into the main one because there was a wedding, even though they initially told us we can get inside at 1.15 pm. We waited and it was 1.20 pm when we tried to get in but we can't because it was being prepared for the wedding lunch I guess. So if you really want to get a full experience you might want to check what they have on schedule.
Otherwise, it is still a nice place for a quick visit with good cafe and reasonable ticket price.

1980's memory
Dec 2015 • Family
When I was a child in the 80's my father was stationed in the area. Me and my mom would walk over there occasionally. I still remember catching tadpoles there. It was a beautiful magic place for a young American girl. Well worth a visit.

A Quick Visit
Sep 2012 • Family
We were short on time so we did not get the full Clemenswerth experience. We walked the grounds and observed the buildings from the outside. We also took time to visit the pond a take a short stroll through the nearby wooded areas.

When in Emsland and especialy if viditing the Soegel area a stop at Schloss Clemenswerth is a must.
