Interesting venture down into the earth, but not unlike most other cave attractions worldwide

This was the only Excursion I took in Cuba this year. We arranged it through Sunwing and had our own Jeep and Driver. He was certainly an asset spoke fluent English and knew the history of the area. Visiting the caves and realizing that these...More

We stopped at Bellamar Caves on the way back from Matanzas to Havana city. The above-ground visitor center place is packed with screaming children and long lines of tourists. You might find the many stairs down there annoying, but they are kinda built into the...More

This is one of the best caverns I have been to. Hang out with the guides towards the back. You will learn more and have a better experience.

Beautiful. Be quick with your camera, as lighting is off and on to prevent growth of lichen. Great tour guide in English. Go early, and for a real adventure, get there on the Number 12 bus... ( up to two hours) or better, hire a...More

Down slippery steps with stalagmites, stalagtites and walls and ceilings bursting with crystals, the Cuevas de Bellamar, discovered by accident in 1861, is a fascinating series of caves near Matanzas which takes you down 26m (85ft) below sea level, in which fossils have been found...More

Cuevas de Bellamar was worth the visit. It is better to visit as part of Matanzas trip from Varadero resorts. We used couple of vans to go as a group. It is important to pace the trip as tour guides tend to leave it to...More

We have visited as a family 2x. Definitely worth visiting. Expect slippery wet conditions for walking and lots of stairs. Bring a good led flashlight as it’s quite dark

Whilst in Matanzas for 2 days, I managed to walk to these caves with a friend of mine from the centre. The walk itself was very good as it takes you through the back roads and met some interesting people along the way. Once we...More

I do not remember paying more than $5 for any attraction in Cuba. However, this attraction is away from all of the others, so see if your travel route allows for a stop here.
