Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thanks to our wonderful guide Natalia Gomboeva and Metropol'-Ekspress agency for making our visit to this beautiful Tibetan Datsan unforgettable. Everything about the place was interesting - the location, offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains, the architecture - rather new-age but keeping traditional values, manipulate grounds with gorgeous flowers and trees, stunning Buddha statue inside, but most importantly, it was our guide’s knowledge of history, culture and Buddist religion that she kindly shared with us. If you are interested in finding a truly knowledge and gracious guide - ask the Metropol-express agency for Natalia Gomboeva!

The owner brought us there after the visit of another monastery further from the city. Although it was smaller than the other one the view is magnificent .

Walk outside through the gardens to various structures and through the peace flag arches. Inside the temple we couldn’t see where to donate Rubles to take photos inside, it is a working temple so people are praying as well as there being tourists. Remember to walk clockwise around the garden and in the buildings. Great view over Ulan Ude.

Take marshrutka 97 to the temple to save yourself a walk up a steepish hill. The view over the city from the temple is lovely. Make a 100 ruble donation if you want to take photos inside.

Probably the best attraction in Ulan Ude. It is amazing to find this beauty on top a very beautiful hill. Take the wooden path of "long life". You can understand why the monks are quite fit. It is just 15 minutes by taxi from the center. I went there on a cold but sunny Siberia spring morning. It is apparently new but has the "atmosphere" of an ancient serenity.

This was part of our Ulan Ude tour and we were pleased with our visit here. Lots to see and learn and fun souvenir shopping outside the complex. This was a very peaceful visit.

Take the 97 minibus from S side of Lenin Sq, to the end of its route 20 R. You are rewarded by a surprisingly tranquil modern temple and gardens. There is also a cafe but the real reward is the fantastic 360 degree view of the city and the Selenka river winding its way south.

Yes, it's important for Russian Buddhists, but it's a bit of mess of buildings mixed with ways of extracting cash. The main temple is standard Tibetan stuff and there are lots of prayer wheels around the place to spin, but it lacks a central identity. It also lacks the geographical excitement that these places often have.

Hard to get excited about it.
