Great Museum Inside
Oct 2019
The castle itself is kind of falling apart. Anyway, the museum inside is great if you are interested in Soviet history! There is also a fair amount of Belarusian exhibits and nature exhibits. Highly recommend if you are in Grodno. I think admission was 4.50 Belarusian ruble.

Neat
Sep 2019
Seeing both the New Castle and Old Castle is very neat, and worthwhile to check out on a visit to Grodno.

I saw both from the outside.

There is construction in the area due to ongoing renovations.

Nice and interesting, but closed unfortunately
Apr 2019
From the outside both castles looked fantastic, but unfortunately they were closed :-(, so I secretly walked around them. Great area near the river and beautiful views.

Interesting
Apr 2019 • Solo
This was an interesting place but the descriptions of exhibits tended to be only in Belarusian which impedes understanding a little. Despite that things are interesting to look at. There is quite a range of things to see. I found the WW2 material fascinating but the stuffed animals somewhat less so.

Nice location
Aug 2018 • Couples
The castle itself cannot offer much to a tourist, while the location is quite special to enjoy the view from the river bank.

Total Bust!
May 2018 • Couples
Also known as Stari Zamak, this ancient castle is situated on the banks of the Neman River, and faces the New Castle. The only original remains are the sections of wall to the left as you enter. The complex is a historical monument of the 12th - 19th centuries, and was a residence of princes, grand dukes and kings of the Grand Lithuanian Duchy, Hrodna Principality, and Polish Kingdoms. Our Adventures Abroad tour manager and local guide brought us here while on a tour of Belarus, and gave us time for a visit and photos. After crossing the bridge, our group of 22 was locked out and could get absolutely no where. We could see nothing! I am curious why these two individuals had no clue that it was not open. The visit was a total bust because visiting inside the new castle was not included in our itinerary. So all we could do was stand in front the two castles and take a few photos.

One of the oldest places in Hrodna
May 2017 • Friends
Old Castle in Hrodna is one of the oldest places here. Rezinence of kings of great republik. There are so great views to the river opening from its walls, there's a nice museum inside.
It's on the reconstruction nowaday, but I hope it will take not so much time.

Museum was excellent
Nov 2017 • Family
The castle really isn't much to look at (Try Mir or Nesvich for a more impressive looking castle). The museum was quite enjoyable though. It begins with exhibits from ancient times and progresses through WWII. Then there is a section with 5 or 6 rooms on natural history, including lots of "stuffed" animals of all sizes (even buffalo and moose) as well as plants and flowers.
You can also walk out around the back of the castle to view the river and climb on some of the ruins of the old castle.
