About
Misawa Aviation & Science Museum, Aomori will be a source of information on the role Aomori Prefecture has been playing in the history of aviation. While children enjoy the themes of aviation and the sky, this facility will cultivate their interests in science and technology, which the Prefecture will be facilitating. The construction site will be located in one corner of the "Misawa Sky Park" which is maintained by the City of Misawa, a city with a long history of developing in aeronautics. Construction will be underway from now till its opening in fiscal year 2003.

Fantastic for everyone

My husband and I enjoyed this as much as my sons. We spent 2 1/2 hours and didn’t see everything. Many many hands on exhibits most with English explanations. They had aeronautics interactive that I hadn’t seen at much larger science museums. Very enjoyable museum with kind attentive staff. Very reasonable annual membership and no charge for children. Thanks for a wonderful day!

Surprisingly excellent museum!

For a somewhat out of the way locale, this museum is quite spacious and packed full of great exhibits. Center stage belongs to Miss Veedol, but beyond a beautiful replica of her (genuine article was lost at sea a few years after its trans-Pacific flight) there are several permeant displays as well as some great hands-on science displays and booths for kids of all ages. Second floor balcony offers a deeply impressive airplane model collection which encompasses several glass cases near the length of the building and is not to be missed!

An outstanding museum with many educational displays. Plenty of choices for children and adults. Several workshops for scientific studies and demonstrations. Great display of a restoration of a WW II aircraft.
Good aircraft outside for viewing.

Fun for kids but interesting enough for adults
Mar 2017 • Family
Went here with two toddler aged kids and two adults. There were enough interesting exhibits for all ages. A lot of hands on activity and a couple of rides including a flight simulator. The staff was helpful even though their English was limited.

The museum was huge and full of beautiful aircraft. My favorite part - the display of hundreds and hundreds of model airplanes from around the world.

My husband and I had a good time visiting this museum. There were a lot a of interactive things for both of us to do beyond reading about the history of each item.

Great rainy day activity

We visited the Museum on the day that Typhoon LionRock was expected. The wind and rain were already picking up a bit but since it was still morning, and the typhoon wasn't expected until late afternoon, figured we had time to visit, and we were right. Checked out the outside airplanes first - interesting displays. Then inside. Loved the old airplanes, especially Miss Veedol and the first airplane flown. Then on to the science exhibits. Very interesting - and I appreciated how the explanations were also given in English. I was the only one of our party that was able to try some of the experiences as the others were too big. Great fun!

I would recommend this museum for families but also for adults. Something for everyone!

Lots of aviation history here!

Great spot with superb scientific exploration for the kids. Top notch aviation museum that really wouldn't be expected in such a rural spot. Misawa's aviation history makes this a real gem.

Perfect way to spend some of those cold Misawa days.

This is a family and kid friendly spot! My children loved the science area upstairs and getting ice cream from the snack bar afterwards. When the weather is good there is a wonderful area outside for playing and running around. Buy the "passport" (as my Japanese friend calls it) which is the year long pass, it pays for itself after 4 or 5 visits in a year.
