About 60 kms. from Paris, on the RN2 highway is situated the city of Soissons, known for the vase of Clovis, the cathedral and the St. Jean des vignes abbey. This is an imposing structure and the visit is free.

With few people around we were able to wander around, get some lovely photos and truly enjoy the beauty and peace of this once stunning Abbey. There are plenty of guide boards around with English translations on them. Don’t miss this if you’re in Soissons...More

This facade is enormous! It is fascinating to read the information panels ( in English) and just wander around outside. There is a small museum with more information but unfortunately all in French. There is no entrance fee.

Whatever remains of this ruin has been reconstituted, sometimes rebuilt to discover this ancien momument. Normally not very crowded, free street parking, it is an imposing structure with the cloister.

This is a beautiful old abbey with a remarkably well preserved adjoining cloister. There is a nice grassy area to wander around and get good vantage points for photos. Plenty of display boards in English as well as French. The Arsenal Museum is next door...More
