Possibly the most beautiful shrine in Herat

This is a large funeral Sufi complex, built in Timurid style, in which you immediately feel pious... A must-see when you are in Herat.

Capital of suffism in Herat
Dec 2017 • Business
This Shrine is known for beginning of suffism in Herat. There are many followers that come here and chant in unison it is a must see. The shrine is a little further from the city compared to everything else but still not to far. About 20 minute drive from the center of the city. Since it is a shrine one must dress modest. For men pants and a shirt is fine. Shoes you take off at the door while you go inside. Shoes are guarded for a price of 20 Afg less than $1. Women must wear head scarf and abaya. The shrine is surrounded by many other tombstones. People go and pray and return. You are allowed to take pictures. The place has so much history and many parts have been restored. The architecture is beautiful.

Essential sight-seeing
Sep 2016 • Business
The shrine of Khwaja Ansari, an aide to the Prophet (PBUH) is a beautiful shrine, where time stands still. The tiles at the entrance are reminiscent of a time when Khorasan, of which Herat was the epicentre, was the crossroads of Asia.

Nice place
Feb 2016 • Solo
It was a very beautiful and historical place, you would feel very peaceful but I think locals don't take good care of it. I think they should be more careful in keeping the place clean and protect it.

The ruins of the place shows its magnificence during its peak time. The beautiful blue artwork on the walls makes it an even more beautiful. Though the abundance of graves inside the shrine makes it bit out of space, yet the place is worth seeing.
