Mostly undeveloped and stretches for 40 miles, making it the largest beach on the Iberian Peninsula.

White sand, calm surf, easy to access 90 minutes south of Lisbon, incredible views, wow. You will not be disappointed in this one.

Spent the day at Comporta. We arrived around 11:30am and paid the €5 for shaded parking close to the board walk. There was plenty of space even on a Sunday.

The beach is stunning and it’s worth walking perhaps 1km either right or left of the Cafe to get a secluded spot.

As with all of this coast line the water is very cold but beautifully clear. Just be careful of the currents if not a good swimmer...

Popular beach for both locals and tourists. Safe waves, turquoise waters, beautiful view but beware as the beach restaurants/bars aren't the cheapest! Very busy in August.

Such a stunning stretch of (fine) sand and dunes! Not too busy and quite a few amazing (yet quite expensive) beach restaurants around. The rice paddies on the other side of the dunes make it even more special. Love this area!

The coast extension is impressive!
It has a good infrastructure, it's a place to relax and enjoy the view as the water is too cold and too windy.
Rent a beach umbrella and a deck chair plus a sparkling wine ;-)

This stretch of beach lasts 12km so it's best to walk for a few minutes to get away from the crowds who congregate near the path from the car park.
The sand is very fine and the water not too rough. There are life guards - though the big group of them seemed more interested in chatting and preening as far as I could see.
There is a big car park with a light cover which costs €4 but there is also plenty of free parking on the route down to the beach.
We didn't try the two cafes or bar but it was handy to have them there.
There's no shade so bring your own.

no trees so be prepared, as no shade. A plus is that the car park is shaded, with walkways to the beach. There are toilet and shower facilities.

The Comporta beach stretches as long your eyes can see, go just a couple of hundred meters and you are away from the crowds and be by your own. The sand is light and the water is nice and cool with high waves. If you like the shade there are umbrellas and sun chairs too. And a small - really nice restaurant and bar.
