The Wutachschlucht is a 120 kilometer long gorge through which you can hike. Due to the weather conditions the hike can be easier or more difficult. We had the very slippery, muddy version due to heavy rain fall. Also because of the rain fall a part of the hiking trail had to be rerouted (part of the pathway between Wutachmuhle... More

What a nice hike. You really get the best of the Schwarzwald here. Waterfalls, rivers, mountains, grassy area, forest and more. There are many trails here and almost none of them are circular. The best thing to do is to park in one of the main places on the trail. Most of this places have a bus that goes through... More

Was a highlight. Really beautiful. Be warned we did the schuttermuhle to wutachmuhle route. It is about 5km (17km in all) with a bit of a detour that takes you right out of the forest and back in. As a bit of it towards the end was closed off due to avalanche. But really worth it. Bus trip easy and... More

I love Black Forest , but Wutach Gorge is one of the most beatiful spots here, in the Black Forest ! If you have a chance to visit, please do so, but make sure you have good hiking footwear on ! And don't leave the hiking ways ! Have fun!

This is an excellent walk and good value for free. The path varies in quality so you’ll want grippy shoes and more so if it’s wet. Failure to know this will add to your excitement on various ledges. There is a car park at either end of the walk so the choice is between deciding whether you want refreshments at... More

Walked 7km down this trail from the top. Stopped for a picnic lunch then walked back up (used own car). Lovely riverside/gorge walk. Many beautiful small waterfalls. Well equipped with hand rails and steps (and you need them). A pleasant hike.

One of prettiest walks for me in Black Forest starting from schattenmuhle a long the river. See other reviews for details on busses. Of you are looking for somewhere to eat and have a car and are wanting to avoid the touristy schattenmuhle restaurant try walkenmuhle landhaus restaurant. Excellent food.

The hike from Wutachmuhle to Schattenmuhle is simply superb and well worth doing. It is about 12.5 km long and takes 3-4 hours. Most of it is fairly flat, although there are some steep, muddy and rocky sections it follows very close to the river and far away from any roads.

If you're going on weekdays, the Schattenmühle to Wutachmühle stretch of Wutachschlucht can be accessed easily by normal bus. (vs special bus on summer weekends) TIPS: Go to DB website or use DB app to find detailed bus route & schedule by keying in start & end locations. Some buses have electronic display showing next stop but some don't. DIRECTIONS:... More

A walk along the the creek is "A MUST" if you are in Schwarzwald. The beauty of the wild nature is awesome. The waters are running among the tall trees and the birds and wind playing around.
