The monastery is so big and beautiful. Just one caution. If you are going in a shared cab be sure to be back before 5, else there are barely to no can back to gangtok city. We had to hitch a ride in a truck. Thank God for that. It's very secluded from the city, which it should be. There... More

It's a bit far away from city and road is also not good. After reaching there I was surprised by it's vastness. Very few tourists go there, it's very calm. You can see students in there open air classes. There is big statue inside the Monastery. A good restaurant is also available.

This was the 2nd monastery we visited and it was like the first however, the setting was slightly different. Loved the serene environment and peaceful ambience.

Serene and divine are the two words to describe the experience. This is a huge monastery tucked away on top of a hillock. It has several rooms for the students. There is also a good souvenir shop and a cafe. This place has been visited by several dignitaries including Aamir Khan. This is one among the top 5 places to... More

Can be avoided. After travelling through a bad road for an hour from Gangtok, we reached this monastery. It is highly recommended to avoid this monastery if you have visited the other monasteries at gangtok and darjeeling. The monastery is said to be in a dispute between two groups. And This is the only place in gangtok, i fell dissapointed.
