This street stretches for about a km along the seaside and is closed for vehicles after 6:00 PM. But what's interesting about it is you see all the locals as well as the tourists coming down to just experience the everyday cool breeze from the sea. The street gets a life of its own in the evening. Old people sitting... More

We were here on a Saturday/Sunday so all human life was here. Great to get across to the Bay of Bengal which is beautiful. Fabulous statue of Mahatma Ghandi on the promenade which was popular with all. A great place for people and sea watching

This is a delightful promenade that stretches along roughly 1 kilometer of seafront. A very pleasant walk to take the evening sea breeze after a hot day seeing the sights of Pondicherry. Especially enjoyable because the entire road is blocked to vehicles from 6 pm to 6 am. There are small food stalls and unobtrusive vendors all along the way.

Probably the only place in pondy which I felt was good. Nice to walk in the evening. And sit in the rocks. And followed by dinner at one of the restaurants nearby. Went there on all the days while I was there... It's just not a must visit, it's the only place to visit

The Gandhi statue is on the beach road or promenade of Pondicherry. U can't miss it if ur walking along the promenade. In the evenings there are variety programmes organised right in front of the Gandhi statue in the open ground opposite to the Gandhi statue definitely a place worth visiting on holidays

the place has a lot of tourist and locals who come walking there. the rocks along the beach provide seats for those who want to watch the sunset. there is also a cafe which i open 24 hrs...rite along the beach....nice to just sit and watch the water sipping tea with some light conversation

The main beach road is closed to traffic at night....therefore a stroll with many of the local residents in the evening is a must do! So pleasant and great exercise after a nice dinner.

Don't go out of your way to see this, but it is a pleasant enough walk, and good to have pavement you can walk along, rather than competing with cars etc on road!
