Just the model of ancient Erbil is worth the time to visit this museum. With the rest of the priceless artifacts on display, this was a surprising find among placed to see in Erbil.

This museum is all about relatively modern Kurdish culture. The best parts are the regioanl costumes. All the other items are pretty ordinary and not of great interest. There was not much signage or information to read in English. Given it was rather hard to...More

Very instructing and informative. The model of the original town as it was in 1950 together with the artifacts exhibited gives you a great idea of what life was like. The director of the museum toured me throughout the whole museum. I recommend it!!

While the museum is only small it is full of ancient artifacts. Look out for the 'egg shaped' burial casket for a baby. At the back of the museum is an archaeological site that is still being worked.
