Incredible experience glacier hiking from start to finish! Don't miss this (and wear sunscreen!)

I purposely chose Tasman Glacier (instead of Fox or Franz Josef) for our heli-hiking experience because it is the largest and less touristed (bc it's harder to access). I have so... read more

I purposely chose Tasman Glacier (instead of Fox or Franz Josef) for our heli-hiking experience because it is the largest and less touristed (bc it's harder to access). I have so say, WOW, I'm so happy with our choice. Charlie Hobbs was friendly, helpful, and prompt with all email communications (and text in the days prior to the trip). At... More

Our heli-hike on the Tasman glacier was amazing! From the views of Mt Cook, to the ice cave we explored, to the very informative (and safety conscious) guide, it was a great adventure.

Authenticity is the key word to describe Ant Harris and Southern Alps Guiding operated by Charlie Hobbs. Southern Alps Guiding is not an “add on” to The Hermitage. Rather, Charlie and his wife, Mary, own The Old Mountaineers’ restaurant which loving promotes and maintains the climbing history of the Mt Cook ranges. Ant guided my wife and me on the... More

If you're in decent shape you can do this. And if you can do it and you're within 100 Km then you should take the time, spend the money and be blown away. Ant and Charlie will ensure you are safe - as someone else wrote they are the real deal.

This was the highlight of our trip! Charlie and Ant are fantastic, they made the trip exciting and fun whilst knowing you were in very safe, capable hands. Our trip was to the top of the Tasman glacier and it was magical. The views were stunning, something we feel lucky to have experienced. We highly recommend them for any trip,... More

This guide company is the real thing. These are not amateurs but dedicated mountaineers. Our guide was Ant(hony) and he was so proficient and yet low key. He made it all possible and easy for us. What a brilliant adventure--helicopter-hiking on the glacier. We will never forget it.

We did the Helihike with Ant in October 2016 and it was really the highlight of our NZ trip! We originally had booked to hike fox glacier but due to weather we had to cancel. We contacted Southern Alps Guiding just before going to Mt Cook and they were so accommodating and booked us in for the next morning hike.... More

Fantastic helihike experience with Ant in October 2016. It was only a small group of 4 in total. its very weather dependent obviously, so the first couple of hours were getting ready and anticipating that we might to the glacier but as the weather was overcast and wet, it was touch and go. So we met at the Mountaineers Cafe,... More

We were so lucky with a perfectly fine day for our kayak adventure on the tasman glacier. Charlie and Ant were careful all the way with skill checks and life jacket checks and thumbs up that all instructions were heard. But they also made the adventure fun and gave us freedom to explore at our own pace too. Seeing the... More

Helihiking the Tasman Glacier with Ant and Charlie was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We were lucky to witness a number of avalanches up close and the weather was just perfect. Highly recommended!!!!
