Got (safely) close to crocodiles and iguanas on this tour, and learned a bit about the ecology of the area. I like the fact they use rowboats that don't disturb the wildlife. I went with the "red shirt" tour group because they had someone stationed right on the highway turnoff. However, as I found out the hard way *after* buying... More

I was unsure what to expect from the tour but it was wonderful surprise. The tour was in English, well paced, and informative. It seems to me the cooperative is doing good work and should be supported by your visit!

We got a taxi from Mazunte to Ventanilla (70mxn). Taxi drivers may convince you to buy your ticket at the first ticket office of the 'white group'. They go to an island and you will see a monkey and crocodiles. BUT...this one little monkey is captured! It's not even originally from here. So if you're a little bit concerned about... More

We were a group ranging in ages 8-61 and we visited Laguna during our stay in Huatulco. It was worth the trip. We loved the serene boat ride and the opportunity to really take in the still, beautiful setting- you could just hear the ocean beyond. I appreciated how it is truly a nature reserve expressly for the animals and birds... More

The red shirts is an amazing ecological community. No motor boats, captive animals and great guides. It is worth a trip early in the morning to view the magnificent birds, alligators and reptiles.

Most visitors here will come as part of a holiday experience, a break from busy stressful lives, as a distraction or escape from the everyday or the urban landscape. Sometimes the worlds we enter can wake us up not just to a deeper curiosity but also to thoughts and sensations of its underbelly- fear, wildness, nature untamed, and the fundamentally... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Laguna Ventanilla. Our guide was cordial, knowledgeable and sweet. Get there as early as possible for maximum bird activity. We were amazed at the number of birds we saw, the iguanas scrambling over the branches and the crocodile (at a very safe distance) announcing their presence. Don't forget binoculars and a telephoto if you... More

We took at 10 - 15 taxi ride from Mazunte to Ventaniilla (100 pesos which is about $7 CAD). Ventanilla is a sleeping little village with a wild beach and a lagoon at the mouth of the Tonemeca River. The taxi took us right to the beach and we signed up for a tour with the "red" group. We didn't... More

An informative walk, impressive post hurricane restoration and the boat. Imagine Disney boat ride but for real. Mangroves, a treasure trove of birds of many colors, including an obliging cormorant diving for fish. We didn't expect crocodiles but saw over a dozen, close up and lying in wait! Then magestic turtles and an animal stand of iguanas, large, small, multicolored.... More

We spent an hour touring the lagoon in mid-December 2016. The 4 of us rented a taxi for the day from Huatulco - spent most of our time in Mazunte and then in Ventanilla. We went with the red shirt tour at the end of the road (beside the beach) - there are two groups (white shirts are first on... More
