We drove from Madaba over the mountains and down to the Dead Sea. We shirtly picked up The Kings Highway which scrolls through the countryside. Watch the speed ramps. Some of them are signed and others are not. We came across 2 police checkpoints en route to Wadi Musa and again when we were returning via Shobak. There are a few fuel stations on the road. The one near Shobak was ultra modern while another one near Karak was not. People we encountered along the way were very friendly and at the last fuel station the attendant boiled us a wicked pot of Turkish coffee which you could eat with a fork. The police who stopped us wanted to know where we were from. When we said Ireland they were surprised. Some parts of the road have deep potholes which are hard to see but you'll know all about it when you hit one at speed. Other road users are liable to pull off some daring feats. Be prepared to be overtaken on any side on bends and straights. Most of the culprits are Bedouins driving Japanese 4x4s. As you head south from Dead Sea you will see camps on the right hand side occupied by Palestinian Bedouin refugees who get blamed for all the plastic rubbish on the road side. You may get lucky and see a line of camels strolling by. If you want to see the real Jordan and are not in a hurry this is the real deal. If not ; check out the Desert Highway which is another story 😁 …

I went on the King's Road on the way to Amman. I visited Shobak Castle. It is in Jorden not too far from Petra. It is very interesting Castle. In the middle of nowhere. The next city is Karak. Huge big Castle ruins very high up. Worth a visit. Peaceful and tranquil

Some fantastic views if you don’t mind the constant change in speed limits, hidden police speed cameras, speed bumps and towns with very busy traffic caused by people double parking and stopping in the main road to talk to friends on the pavement.

Amazing visit with outstanding scenery. Especially the places chosen by service providers to mount a small place for tea break. I advise all to take it at least once, especially between Madaba & Karak, it till Petra... I love it.
