A mountain we return to again and again
Mar 2019 • Couples
Portugal is a small country, yet you find this deserted and remote mountain range (actually 3 or 4 parallel mountains) smack in the middle of Portugal, surrounded by densely populated areas. Few or no roads connect these parallel mountains, about 1000 meters high, across valleys, so if you ride the top of one you'll need to drive to either end to climb the next one. Winding roads, low speeds, deep forest or breathtaking views.
And between mountains the most remote and isolated small typical villages, like Regoufe or Covas do Rio, villages that just a couple of decades ago got roads and electricity.

Motorcycling in the Magical Mountains
Jul 2018 • Family
I enjoy motorcycling around Serra da Freita and the Magical Mountains. The views are wonderful and there are very few vehicles on the roads - though you do have to watch out for cows and goats.

The roads are narrow with no side barriers, but they are perfectly safe. There are clear signs at the road junctions, pointing the way to the various sights.

Only about an hour's drive from Porto, it's a great place to surround yourself with nature. Take lunch with you and picnic with a view.

Wonderful landscapes
Nov 2017 • Couples
The scenery is incredible. I recommend going to Mizarela viewpoint. Also go through the waterfalls. Visit Drave, the abandoned village and take a dip there. Also pass through the Portal of the Devil, the landscape is dizzying!
