A beautiful location, but hard to view
Mar 2019 • Couples
The location is very beautiful, and is an excellent excuse to visit the mountain itself, serra da Freita, 3 or 4 parallel lines of hills upp to 1100m, all connected at Arouca and maybe the most remote feel in Portugal, despite being smack in the middle.
To see the waterfall, if you don't have a drone like I do, drive round to Castanheira. Drive also to Regoufe, Covelo do Paivô, Covas do Monte and Pena, and don't forget Passadiços do Paiva.

Visit of the Arouca Region.
Jul 2018 • Couples
We have spent some time with our Brazilian friends and visited the Arouca region, and doing so we also spent some time at the “Cascade of Frecha da Mizarela”, a waterfall who is located in Serra da Freita, and this near the village of Albergaria da Serra, in the Arouca municipality.
This cascade is located in the granite rock of Serra da Freita plateau, at an altitude of about 97 meters. It is fed by the waters of the Caima river and has a height that is around 75 meters, being so one of the highest in Europe.

60 metres high - but low water volume
Jul 2018 • Family
At 60 metres high, it is reported to be the highest (and most beautiful) waterfall in mainland Portugal. However, there isn't a lot of water volume passing over fall, so it isn't as impressive as other waterfalls.

However, the entire surrounding region of the Magical Mountains is spectacular and, if visiting the area, it is worthwhile to stop and see the cascade.

There is a viewing area located next to the road with a parking space nearby.

For those who enjoy nature
Jul 2017 • Family
A very special place on the top of Serra da Freita, an area with many interesting attractions. A visit not to be missed for those who enjoy geology. Very close is a unique geological phenomenon in the World (the "parideiras stones"), which should not be missed. On the way you will find herds of cows of the arouquesa breed that feed exclusively on natural pastures, whose meat is used to make recipes for roasted meat, with a unique flavor and will not forget.

Nice without being impressive
Aug 2017 • Couples
Although quite unique in Portugal, this water fall is nice to see but it obliges to a quite long drive. Probably it might be more interesting for the ones who reach it after having walked some kilometers in nature. Enjoy!
