So awfull to see what the fires have done to the area. Only a third of the stairs are still able to be climbed. Would have loved to see the forrest with all threes instead of a terrible dark hillside. Destroyed 😢😡🍀

This trip was the highlight of our visit. We drove from arouca village, there are signs to all trails. The road is narrow sometimes, and you should choose parking well. At first we walked up endless wooden stairs to photograph the amazing canyon and lively acricultural fields on hills, but then we decided to walk a wooden trail along the river(a bit above).As... Have a ride to the top of the radar, go see the "parideiras" and "boroas"stones and the huge Frecha da Mizarela. But you have more than 40 geopoints to see... And especially if you go in the spring the countriside is amazing, yellow and purple.

This was such an amazing 8 k walk. You can do the walk both ways if you like. We only had time to do the walk one way. The best part was swimming in the river half way. Great way to experience nature and have fun with family and friends. A must more than once. Looking forward to it again... More

Really didn't expect it to be so nice. We did some great activities (canyoning and rafting) with "clube do paiva" (tip!) and a really great walk on mount montemuro, from rocks to forests and authentic old villages. We definitely have to come here again some day.

Absolutely beautiful area. Fascinating geological artifacts. Go and see Rita in the Geopark info office in the middle of town.

Starting in Arouca at the Information Centre you will find a range of high quality background to the Geopark. The centre itself is superb. Some of the signage for driving is a little wayward but it's well worth the effort to reach the plateau and visit their sites.

The park has many small "sights" to stop for, so you can plan a short visit or several full day tours, depending how much time you have. The staff in visitor centre downtown Arouca is extremely helpful. I participated guided tours but met in hotel people who had a rental car. There are walking trails with stunning views and they...
