The hike to the top takes about two hours. It's medium difficulty. You need to bring water and you need to have proper shoes. Althoug it's hot while climbing to top, it' s worth it. The view is amazing, crater, another Volcano, Pacific, the lake,...More

This was an amazing hike! Let’s start off by saying it’s a little tough (at least for me) maybe the fact that I had just jumped off the plane and hadn’t slept good or eaten good in the last day had to do with this...More

I was a bit disappointed that you can only walk a little way and not all around the crater. It is possible I'm told to go down into the crater and then back up but you need a good 5 hours as it's a steep...More

Well, you must be in good shape to get up there!!! I started my walk and I have to confess that for a while there, I thought I was going to faint!! The air gets thinner and you have a harder time to breath, but...More

2 hours to the top and 2 hours down require plenty of stretching and water breaks. The view from the top and the breeze that cools you down is worth it though. There was a guy selling cold popsicles and I tried the Zapote (...More

Loved the hike to the top of Santa Ana! The views from the top are allow you to see lots of the country, inlcuding the Pacific Ocean, several volcanoes, Lake Coatepeque, and lots of the countryside. Looking into the crater is awesome! The crater contains...More

The view on the top of the volcano it’s just amazing!!! However, be aware it’s not an easy hike, once you’re getting closer to the top, terrain is rough and you kinda have to crawl your way up. It’s a 14 Km hike, and it’s...More

The hiking group leaves from the Cerro Verde park around 11am every day. It's a 2-2.5 hour hike to the top, with breathtaking views. You go through three stages, forrest, then bushes, then rocks. If you get lucky, you also get to see some cool...More

The hike was easy for the first 40 minutes, then I got a little rocky and difficult. Overall it was a great adventure! Btw... it’s totally safe! The police officers hike with you and there’s more through out the hike.

Did this hike with my 12 year old son and uncle. We had a car so drove to the starting point. Lots of people did this walk in a group and it was simply stunning. 2 hours up and a bit shorter down. Hard work...More

Yes! We drove ourselves. I would get there around 10:45. I do hear the bus is cheap, but driving was no problem.
