A nice small museum for local history
Nov 2016 • Couples
This museum is small but presents the rich history of the town. From the visit to this museum, I learned that the town is actually the largest old archaeological site in the #Netherlands.

Interesting things that can be learned from the museum are the civilization during the pre-historic time and the Roman age. Besides that, stuffs from the medieval age can also be found. The museum is worth a visit of 1-2 hours.

Cute but little pricey
Mar 2016 • Friends
I visited this museum. And i admit I was a kind of spur off the moment thing. It's a nice little museum with some really specific history of the local region. The staff was friendly but one could see they are mostly volunteers and had a little trouble operating the register. For this i found the entrance price a little high. But all in all nice little museum to spend an hour or two..

Rich local history
Nov 2015 • Solo
Museum Dorestad displays the local archeological finds. There is nothing spectacular, but a wide variety of findings from a mammoth bone to prehistoric and Roman age findings, to medieval findings. Three different Roman helmets are quite nice. There's also a copy of a unique medieval 'disc fibula' found in the area. The many findings are indicative of the rich history of Dorestad, which thrived in Carolingian times, in the 800s. The museum lies opposite to the ruin of castle Duurstede.
