Great morning excursion
Aug 2019
Bus 62 from Enschede takes 20-25 mins. On the day we went, it was worth being there early to get the first train, because the later trains were fairly full. A pleasant train ride in beautifully restored carriages. Pretty countryside. An impressive station at Haaksbergen. Various locos and carriages to see at either end of the line. Interesting material, displays and a model railway at the far end of the line.

On the train with mama, papa and opa
Sep 2017 • Family
A lovely couple of hours going back in time. From buying the tickets from the conductor dressed in old fashioned clothing to stepping up and into the old steam train that takes you up to the old station and yard in boekelo where you can look at the old train carriages and enjoy a quick coffee before the train goes back to haaksbergen.
Brilliant for the kids and family.

Would definitely recommend.

Small museum, but quality restorations on the trains!
Sep 2017 • Couples
Very nice museum railroad to spend half a day, there's enough to see for young and old, quality restoration of railroad carts, nice steam engines, and very enthousiastic volunteers helping you out in any way you need.
Platform and trains are wheelchair accesable, small shop, small restaurant in Boekelo (one side), but a very nice restaurant with outside dining/siting in Haaksbergen next to the station. All in all, a nice day out for the whole family

A good half day outing
Aug 2017 • Family
If you like steam trains this is a place to visit. Ride the steam train there and back again. About half hour each way. Train exhibits and cafe available at museum. No refreshments available at end of journey out on the day we took the steam train so may be worth taking a drink with you. Toilets available though and bouncy castle for kids in addition to train exhibits.

This is the place for train afficionado
Apr 2017 • Friends
If you like trains, especially old, steam trains, this is the place to be, next to the railway museum in Utrecht. Every year at the start of the motorcycle season, mid-april, we as a club visit something special.
This time we visited the MBS with some 96 motorcycles and over 100 persons.

Very worth while.

Nostalgic Steam Rail
May 2016 • Couples
A lovely ride to Boekelo and back.
It is a nice outing for the whole family. One can either take the smaller train or the fancy steam train ride for a nominal fee.

Fun with grandkids
Oct 2014 • Friends
Great trip with the grandkids, and for the grandparents a nostalgic trip back in time. Often a fun exhibition with model trains in Boekelo to visit free of charge before returning to Haaksbergen.

Family day
Oct 2014 • Family
A lovely little trip up to Boekelo.
11 euros each and a real treat.
Everything is old fashioned in the style of the old days, the steam train the conductors also in the correct uniform, roads are closed while you saunter along enjoying a leisurly trip along the line, people wave and there is generaly a feeling of happiness, brilliant for the children and also for the somewhat older children ( fathers and grandparents ). A nice trip out for the family.
