Great ferry company with friendly staff
Jan 2021 • Family
Used the WPD to an from Ameland. As we were running late on the inward journey, we needed to change our reservation for a later boat. Which wasn’t a problem at all and arranged by just a phone call to their reservation line.

Great and friendly staff, very smooth crossings both ways. Because of COVID-19, you are requested to stay in your car. So you are missing out on some amazing scenery. But of course is totally understandable.

One of the reasons we chose for Ameland as our destination is because of the good value for money. The other ferry company for the other islands is considerably more expensive
If you bring your car!

The Holwerd to Ameland ferry is Brilliant, rarely late always clean and comfortable, at €17.50 for a 50 minute sea journey its a steal.
I use it twice a year and always feel its money well spent. 🥥🌎

Beautiful
Jul 2019 • Family
There are two ferries from Holwerd to Ameland. We were a big group and the fast ferry was full, so we ended up on the big ferry. We enjoyed the sun on the panorama deck. The trip took 50 min, but can be recommended.

Good value, stress free travel to Ameland
Jul 2018 • Couples
We left our car in the covered car park next to the ferry terminal, costing €5/ day. After a short walk, we were able to buy our return tickets for only €15 and without queuing. Ferries are very regular in the summer so we did not have to wait very long.
We sat on deck in the sun, very relaxing and even saw some seals. Journey was 45 minutes however the ferries are modern so no diesel fumes and not much noise.
Drinks and snacks also available on board.
A very efficient and stress free trip.

Here it starts
Apr 2018 • Couples
A journey to the Wadden island Ameland starts when you board a ferry of Wagenborg. The ship brings you in about 45 minutes from Holwerd on the mainland to Ameland.

Most common way to get to the island!
Jan 2018 • Couples
A short hop from Holwerd on the ferry will see you on the island of Ameland.
The crossing takes about 45 minutes and is very comfortable.
There is a little cafe on board where you'll be able to get a coffee and cake.
Cars, bikes etc can be taken on board but most people travel as foot passengers.
Onb either side is a terminal with toilet facilites (as well as on board) and the terminal in Holwerd has a little gift ship as well.

Comfortable trip
Dec 2017 • Friends
My first trip to Schiermonnikoog was a wonderful experience. And a good trip begins with a journey, and this ferry definitely was an amazibgly comfortable way to begin this journey. With bft 5-6 a very calm ride on the sea, and a very fast service that always connects to the public transport on both the island and the mainland.

expect delays
Jul 2017 • Couples
The boot is very comfortable, not to crowded. Due to the channel it has to sail through, (which is banked by sand flats) the ferry does not arrive on time. We had 40 minute delay.

Ferry terminal
Jun 2017 • Family
Very well connected to the main bus lines of the island, this ferry terminal represents a good example of inter modality allowing quick commuting from the bus, taxi or bike to the ferry.

Cosy
Jun 2017 • Solo
For a ferry, quite cosy. There's a bar, there's also an upstairs deck where you can see everything, but it's very windy. Not too pricey either. Altogether a good ride
