We left our car in the covered car park next to the ferry terminal, costing €5/ day. After a short walk, we were able to buy our return tickets for only €15 and without queuing. Ferries are very regular in the summer so we did...More

A journey to the Wadden island Ameland starts when you board a ferry of Wagenborg. The ship brings you in about 45 minutes from Holwerd on the mainland to Ameland.

A short hop from Holwerd on the ferry will see you on the island of Ameland. The crossing takes about 45 minutes and is very comfortable. There is a little cafe on board where you'll be able to get a coffee and cake. Cars, bikes...More

The boot is very comfortable, not to crowded. Due to the channel it has to sail through, (which is banked by sand flats) the ferry does not arrive on time. We had 40 minute delay.

Very well connected to the main bus lines of the island, this ferry terminal represents a good example of inter modality allowing quick commuting from the bus, taxi or bike to the ferry.

For a ferry, quite cosy. There's a bar, there's also an upstairs deck where you can see everything, but it's very windy. Not too pricey either. Altogether a good ride

This organization runs the transport to and from the island Ameland. It has regular service clean boats but I find you take your car it is not cheap and reservations are in the high season a must.

The ferry service depends in tide and weather conditions. Their twitter feed usually offers great info on actual departure times (@wpd_ameland). Generally, the ferry is fast and efficient!
