This spring, I was studying abroad in Orvieto, Italy. I wanted to go birding with a guide, but it was difficult to plan, as the school program was rigorous and allowed minimal free time. Marco was extremely flexible and was able to plan a birding trip for me that could fit my tight schedule! I gave him a list of my "most wanted" birds, and he planned a perfect route to get the best chance of seeing them. Marco was extremely knowledgeable and had a wonderful enthusiasm for helping me find the birds I wanted to see. Unfortunately, I was sent home from Italy due to the coronavirus and had to cancel my tour with Marco. I am planning to return to Italy next year if at all possible, and I will undoubtedly be booking another birding tour with Marco!

We planned a day of birding during our visit to Arezzo and luckily found Marco. Marco promptly arrived at our countryside VRBO lodging for the day of birding and we headed out to some good winter birding locations. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. Marco is extremely knowledgeable of birds and with his background in shorebird biology, we had a lot in common. I particularly enjoyed his knowledge of the history of Arezzo, since he is a native born son. We also had good conversations about wine and food as well. Marco is a genuine gentleman and it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. We talked about the future and hope to see him again for a tour of Sicily during the spring migration. Highly recommended!!

Birding was fabulous with Marco! I wouldn't have gotten nearly as many species without him. Highlights were Lesser Grey Shrike, Bald Faced Ibis, Golden Oriole and a wetland area with around 1000 Flamingos. BTW, he also knows where the really good food is!

This is a shallow reservoir full of a wonderful variety of waterfowl. Birding here, and in the adjacent countryside really showed off Marco’s expertise. I have birded in Mediterranean areas a few times before but still managed to pick up three life birds. I would recommend to anyone interested in the birds and natural history of this area!

Highly recommend Marco as he was knowledgeable in both bird guiding and historical sites in Italy. It was fun to be around Marco and we enjoyed our two days during our 17 day trip to Italy. Easy to understand and would use his services again. Thanks again, Jeff & Donna
