I've been to Otranto many times but this the first time actually going inside the Duomo. The floor is covered in mosaics and there are also frescos on the walls. The mosaics depict some bible scenes or scenes of mythology..perhaps Perseus or Hercules.

This is a real gem tucked away in a corner. The frescoes are superb, and it is a real privilege to be able to see them. Be sure to leave a donation to help preserve this fantastic monument.

If you are in Otranto, visit this free-to-enter church. I love art, if you do too, his little building from the 9th century will move you. There are frescoes from the 9th century of Jesus washing the disciples feet and the Last Supper. Above the...More

I have been to Otranto a few times and somehow had missed out on this tiny gem. The frescoes are stunning. Small and quite beautiful. Don't miss it.

While walking the back streets of Otranto, be sure to stop by and see this old church. Perhaps if you are lucky the interior will be open for viewing. Alas, it was not when we visited. Nonetheless the exterior is interesting given the age.

Beautiful both inside and out. We were lucky that a priest had unlocked the door for a school group, but he clearly had zero interest in the carefully preserved frescoes inside and simply wanted us to leave so he could lock the door again. Nonetheless,...More

Meant to be one of the attractions of the town, in October it was impossible to enter. I don't know if it is possible at other times of year.
