Dead insect in my son’s food and terrible service overall
Aug 2021 • Family
My wife found a dead insect in our 2,5 y/o son’s pasta and we got no apologies of sort. The insect was evidently cooked with the pasta.

That was after waiting for over 1,5 hours despite placing our orders way before lunch time. The same delay was experienced by every other guest.

I invite anyone reading this review to avoid this place. I only gave it 1 star because there is no going below 1. The owner clearly aims at new guests every season, counting on new travaler’s inexperience with this beach.

Awful service and unacceptable lack of hygiene.

The perfect beach club!
Jun 2021 • Couples
For me this is THE standard for a beach. It has everything! There was plenty of parking outside on the street, but it also has a parking lot with attendant. There is lots of SHADE - chairs and tables under the trees by the food and drinks area, and shaded lounge chairs. There are cabanas for changing, the bathrooms are new and clean. There is sandy beach with clear water, and also rocky areas to explore. We had lunch here and the food was excellent. Since we had to leave to come to us our travels, it was nice that there are showers too. We will definitely visit this place again!

Cute Beach, Awful Restaurant
Sep 2019 • Couples
We visited Lido La Castellana to have a nice day at the beach. The setting itself is quite nice and that is truly the highlight. The restaurant is fine if you would like a drink, but do not get any of the food. They simply do not seem to care at all about the quality or sanitary preparation of their food. I noticed quite a few of the people there brought their own food and that is for good reason.

RAC. 2019. Otranto.

Good sandy beach (Lido) close to Otranto centre. Reachable on foot from the city. Bar& restaurant & services.
Very good sea-water like everywhere here. Some people say that it’s a little expensive, but it’s one of the best in the area. Maxbugatti.

Lovely wee beach club close to town
Jun 2019 • Couples
On the edge of Otranto town. Don’t follow google map for this as it will lead you to nowhere near it! We were €30 for beds and a brolly. Some of the beds are broken so choose carefully. My sunshade crashed down on me more than once during our day. Too lazy to change it for another. I understand that the price varies depending on the month. There are changing huts and a water hose for showering off the sand. Basic but it worked. Toilets were clean. We had lunch, fresh tasty salads about €13-15 and a really lovely waiter. The bar/lunch spot is pretty and clean. It also has a wee private parking space. The beach itself is beautiful. Gorgeous fine sand and gently shelving into the water. So if you don’t mind paying over the odds for your beds then it’s worth it. Too be fair it is only €5 euros dearer than main miramar beach in town and is far nicer. Cleaner water too!

Cosy and elegant resort - don’t eat at the restaurant
Sep 2018 • Family
We visited when the summer season was already over so we managed to get sunbeds right at the front. 2 sunbeds/a chair/an umbrella, and parking for the whole day it was 30Euros (we had a discount through the place we were staying at) so not cheap but considering the parking outside would have been at least 10Euros for the whole day, it was not too bad. The water was crystal clear and the garden surrounding the little strip of beach is beautiful. The place is frequented by lots of regulars, we were probably the only ones there who didn’t know anyone :-). Don’t eat at the restaurant: for two normal portioned salads (with a small can of tuna devided between the two salads) which they call insalatona (big salad) they charged 14Euros each. But wait for it, a plate of melon (4 slices), 8Euros!!!!!!! Total rip off!

Amazing beach
Aug 2016 • Family
Stumbled across this beach and had the best day ever!! Staff were so friendly, helpful and spoke English. Had a great spot on the beach and stayed all day. The wind was up but this made the sea fun for our 9 year old daughter who body surfed incessantly till wrinkled!! Restaurant was lovely, the waiter Marco, who had worked in London guided us through the menu and was utterly faultless. The natural garden setting is beautiful with grass and trees to relax in/under, featuring a shower cascading from the rock!! Planning to go back for sure ...

Potrebbe...

Bar and restaurant area is very cute, but too expensive and too many crowded beach chairs for a place that aims to be "exclusive"...

Maybe this next summer it will be organized in a better way. Hope so.

Overpriced
Given a choice between a €65 and a €35 option (umbrella + 2 sunbeds), we opted for the latter. They put us in the very last row, right next to the public beach - goodbye silence. The €65 euro beach is silent and better arranged, however I would expect at least a smile whetever option one may choose. Staff was extremely rude and treated us like we were unwelcome - even if the hotel had reserved for us a week on advance. The attractiveness of the water depends on the winds that day. Frankly I would opt for a cheaper option - check laghi alimini.
