About
Cape Palascìa, commonly known as Capo d'Otranto, is Italy's most easterly point. It is situated in the territory of the Apulian city of Otranto, in the Province of Lecce at 40° 7' northing and 18° 31' easting. The lighthouse there, recently renovated, is one of five Mediterranean lighthouses protected by the European Commission. It is often visited by tourists, especially at New Year, since it stands at the point where the dawn of the new year may first be seen in Italy.

#1 place near Otranto

This was our most loved experience in Otranto. We got there by car (a couple minutes from Otranto), but you can easily go with a bike. The lighthouse is secluded and spectacular and the little alley going into the sea is simply food for eyes.

Easternmost point of Italy
Dec 2016 • Friends
Easternmost point of italy where the first sunrise can be enjoyed. Very popular spot for spending NYE but can be crowded. I personally loved in a windy winter morning where the waves and the wind make a fantastic display.

Take the road from Otranta to S.M. di Leuca and make a quick stop wherever you want to enjoy the very beautiful scenery and be ready to be surprised by the diversity of nature

Worth a stop if you are driving the coastal road

The view is quite attractive, but I would not make a special trip to see it unless you had time to burn.
