The views from the castle are spectacular and we found the guided tour in the underground worthwhile. The audioguide however wasn't top. The sightseeing above ground and exhibition rooms could be a lot better, it's a pity because the location has a lot of potential.

This castle is amazing... from the outside. Built in the late 15th century, the coat of arms of Charles V is visible outside the front door. Believe me, that's the best thing about this castle. There is one remaining fresco we could find. 10 euros...More

We spent a week with friends in the Salento region of Puglia staying in an apartment near the old town. The castle is huge and dominates the intertwining alleys and the port. It is part of the 15th century fortifications that gives Otranto its defensive...More

This looked like it would be very interesting and informative. In reality, it is just an empty fortress whose rooms have been turned into a conference area and various rooms of obnoxious modern photos, many of which are rather pornographic. Why? Who knows. The people...More

The dungeon tour is only a series of small vantage points for guns and cannons. There is NO information regarding prisoners or incarceration. Worse, the Guide speaking Italian speaks at each point for 4 -5 minutes while the English audio guide provides merely one sentence...More

I wish we saw the reviews before paying the entrance fee. As the others described it: reconstructed structure and nothing to see inside. No map no history, no guide. As others said, better keep your money and have a gelatto instead

Located on the Adriatic Coast of Puglia, in the Salento region. This region produces 60% of all the olives in Italy

A good castle to visit with great views of Otranto. The underground tour is very good and they have a guide in English.

If you are in Otranto and find yourself tempted to go into Castello Argonese, please resist the urge. The castle is not worth the entrance fee. It has been rebuilt with no attempt to keep the architecture 'in period', using big modern concrete blocks and...More

We paid 12euro/pers and we we got no map, no story, no guide. The rooms were renovated and we saw nothing but white walls. Not worth the money, better see it from outside.
