This church was beautiful on the inside. It's painted from top to bottom. Interesting paintings. Entry is free.

Massive building on the main city square looking much more modest from outside than inside.
Interior is nice and cosy but elegant at the same time .
Amazing vault.

A Saint from far away, worshipped in Galatina

This building is certainly worth a visit. It tells the story of Santa Catarina, who is depicted with her wheel in statue, fresco and paintings. Colourful, clear and marvellous, a landmark worth te visit.

Amazing, Brightly Painted Frescoes
Apr 2019 • Couples
This ancient basilica contains stunning, bright frescoes, so many that it is sometimes compared to the church of St. Francis of Assisi. The colors and paintings are gorgeous and you can see where ancient graffiti appears on some. Adjacent is a museum containing the relic of St. Catherine, a finger housed is a silver reliquary. Really can’t see much of anything, but the silver housing is pretty. Don’t miss if you are traveling in this area of Puglia! The town itself of Galatina is charming.

Wonderous
Sep 2018 • Couples
This is a basilica which is a cut above the rest. The interior is simply stunning. Amazing frescoes with not only biblical but other interesting scenes hidden on the walls. Some have been restored but many remain in the original 16th/17th century. Indeed one seems to gave the painters name from 1680 engraved on the wall. The angelic choir on the ceiling is stunning.
Please respect the culture when visiting . It says no photos and that means no photos. So many tourists were ignoring the many signs. Take time and look at them, but dont snap them.

In the middle of Puglia I had never heard about it! Extraordinarily beautiful
Jun 2018 • Couples
We were travelling in Puglia and I learned about Galatina thanks to a magazine called "Bella Italia". This cathedral is so beautiful, full of frescoes which reminds one of Giotto's Cappella degli Scrovegni" in Padova. Breathtakingly beautiful...I plan to return to Galatina as there are other beautiful sights to see which we missed because of lack of time.
