Privileged and honoured
Sep 2019
We were taken into Saint Maria of Croce by a guide recommended by Mara the host at our B&B. We heard that many people travelled from all over the world to see the beautiful Byzantine artwork, the murals, the mosaics, in excellent condition. The history associated with the church made it an amazing find for us, we did feel priviledged for the experience.

This little church is open from 5pm-7.30pm Saturday and Sunday so bear that in mind. The mosaics and frescoes are very beautiful and it is well worth visit.

A window through time

This little church is so unassuming from the outside. When I entered and my eyes adjusted to the dim light, the frescoes and mosaic start to show themselves. They are few but ancient and startling. Spend some time looking into the eyes of the Byzantine priestess and be moved by her presence.
