We've been to L'Estartit three years in a row and it get high praise from our teenage family, but is it my imagination or has it all gone a bit stale this year? Not so busy. Lots of "en venda" signs? Major works ongoing well into the high season? And the staff in the office were perfunctory, at best. Disappointing. Would not be tolerated in Ireland where we live - staff in the tourism offices here know they are there to sell the country. The experience here was more "take it or leave it, I don't care".…

The ladies who helped us were very nice and spoke good English. The office is down by the marina on the main street, very easy to find and get to. She helped us set up our wi-fi and was helpful with a few questions we also had about the area.

I explained what I was looking for and a very efficient and pleasant lady explained in perfect English. She then proceeded to hand me two maps and high light the places I had asked about....and all free of charge.

One thing I would like to say is, they were open when I was there, but I have come across problems elsewhere in Spain where you will arrive in a town at a certain time, lets say 11am in the morning, head for the tourist office and it is closed for siesta, maybe not open til 6pm, by which time you are off. Just a word to the wise, don't get tripped up by that one. Though when they are open, they are great, and can send you to places you may not of thought of before.…
