Remarkable history all below the ground found by some brave young men. Experience and feel what it must have been like centuries ago underground as a prisoner. There is so much to learn. A quaint town too! Enjoy a meal in the town which is Inspired the book Chronicles of Narnia!

Do yourself a favor. First, visit Narni. It's a small town packed with history. The people there are really friendly AND DON'T MISS taking the underground tour of the Dominican church (prison and torture chamber!!!! Go figure!!!). The tour guide was quite knowledgeable and she had a great sense of humor. The tour lasts almost 1.5 hours. Worth every minute. Our guide spoke Italian so if you don't understand Italian, you will want to ask for a guide who does.

Take this tour to discover an underground chapel, forgotten for ages. Later in the tour you’ll find a prison cell with original graffiti from prisoners at the walls. It gives you an idea of the long and lo,y hours of the people in these cells (before they were tortured by the inquisition).

The underground convent was great and the visit is the real plus...at least in Italian. Even the teenagers were very interested, and followed most of it as a story telling, with lots of anecdotes. No pictures allowed inside. You can also tell the members of the charity handling the visits are passionate about it, and that is really lovely. We did not have a chance of seeing Roberto, one of then youngsters who discovered the site in 1979, but he is clearly still very much involved and is admired for his dedication. I am not sure they do visits in other languages unfortunately, although they do offer an audioguide. So most of us understood Italian and were thrilled, the one person who did not found it a bit too long towards the end. Keep the tickets because they offer reductions in other attractions in the area.
