4000ft long Aquaduct Tunnel 'often compared to the Wonders of the World' as it is one of only two tunnels in history that was excavated from both ends and met in the middle with success (and this was in 6thCenturyBC - before any kind of mapping or surveying)!

We passed by as we were visiting Pythagerio. We were lucky the gates were open and we could join a free tour. Note that they lock the place when a tour is ongoing (there were two staff and both joined the tour). It's a nice...More

We were intending to visit this on our trip but it was still closed. We did go to the gates which were there to prevent anyone getting in but they weren't very exciting! Good job we'd visited the Monastery beforehand.

We wanted to visit the Eupalinos Tunnel, and we've read about it while preparing our trip. Unfortunately, it was closed because of maintenance working. It's a pity it was closed at mid-september.

Was looking forward to seeing this and made the trip to see it, only to find it is closed until further notice for repairs. The locals say it is well worth the visit when it is open.

One star not because it was bad, but because it's closed (and this is not made very clear). There is actually a rather small and inconspicuous sign at the start of the road from Pythagoreion, but if you miss that you won't find out until...More

I ask on reception in hotel Dorysiaa seaside resort about this tunnel and nice girl said, that tunnel is closed this year because of renovation. It will be open next year. New and shine. After a day I visit the hill because of the monastery...More

Been twice to this island and both times tunnel has been closed. Very disappointed. The annoying thing is there is no info in Pythagorean telling you it's closed. Still it is a nice view from the top of the hill.

It seems to me that this tunnel has been closed for quite some time. It was meant to re-open in 2013 (according to the sign). Locals at Kokkari didn't seem to know about the closure.

That it was closed, I really didn't like. It's a long walk up the mountain behind Pythagoreio and not to be able to get in for just a glance was disappointing.

We did not learn that this tunnel had been closed the last two years till we arrived on the island. Its fame was one of the reasons we wished to visit Samos.
