Our family wakes up early at the warmth of the wooden stove, we gather to plan the day around the flavor of handmade tortillas. We grew up at the shade of the great ficus and enjoys the songs of the free birds and the mischievous monkeys, cultivate life and food to help us survive in an economy in which money has value, but we have the certain that it is not all !!!

We are a local family and our job is to share the life philosophy that we got as a heritage, communion with the great diversity in which we have the opportunity of walking up, working on the conservation of the forest and offering visitors the unforgettable experience of nature image, walking through our different trails you will encounter a transition forest a bridge between The Cloud Forest and the Dry Forest; with an abundance of endemic and fruit bearing trees in the area that make it suitable birds watching, wildlife observation and wide array flora that characterizes the area. You will be surprised by two beautiful waterfalls, panoramic views, coffee and banana plantations grown in harmony with the rich biodiversity of 48 hectares of protected area.

In our quest to conserve the forest we are part of the Biological Corridor Bellbird, planting and giving maintenance to about 1,000 trees per year, this association's project to reforest the corridor where they nest and eat these beautiful birds. Bellbird Association

Cheaper, quieter and better than the big "Nature Walks"

Well marked paths wind through the privately owned property. There were no other people around so we saw lots of birds and a group of playful coaties. Nice views from the lookouts.

This is one of the oldest protected areas on the Pacific slope right next to Monteverde and right before the town of Santa Elena. This forest is full of wildlife and is an oasis for so many creatures that need to flee from the crowded and quickly growing town of Santa Elena and Cerro Plano. There are many species of... More

This was pretty good. A very pretty waterfall (but down many many stairs to the viewpoint). We had high hopes for seeing monkeys, etc but didn't. Did see several beautiful birds.

Amazing find, great trails, lots of wildlife and a knowledgeable and friendly guide. We were greeted by a pack of capuchin monkeys right at reception. We did a two hour walk/hike through several of the trails with a guide. He was great trying to spot birds and animals for us. Even after 6 days in Costa Rica, we saw new... More

The place was good and scenic. The map they provided us was organized and helped us find our way around. The vistas we saw from the lookout points were beautiful. The rating is 4 instead of 5 because it was a little difficult to find the place and the person we met at the front desk could have been a... More

When you first arrive to Monteverde your first impresion is I want to see the cloud forest. So you are directed either by book or travel agent. Many people will either spend time at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve or at the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. On the other hand if you are looking for something of the beaten... More

We took a guide for the day who recommended going here rather than the Monteverde Reserve and I'm so glad that we went with him and took his advice. We didn't see any other people in the 3 plus hours that we walked the trails around this beautiful privately owned sanctuary. There are excellent viewing platforms high up looking out... More

We are staying nearby at Dreams Lodge so only had to walk a short to the private site. We took the 2 hr blue route option which runs along the outside of the park. We were given a laminated route map and were told that one of the waterfalls was closed. We didn't see many birds or animals but had... More

This nature park is on the outskirts of Santa Elena and if you don't want to walk there, it is a quick taxi drive away from Centro. Upon arrival we were given a laminated trail map and in Spanish or English were given guidance in which trails were open. (One wasn't because of severe weather conditions due to rainy season.)... This park offers a number of different trails that lead to spectacular lookout points and beautiful waterfalls. In contrast to most other activities in Monteverde, very few tourists find their way here. While you have mass tourism in the other forest reserves, you can enjoy this one almost all by yourself. Still, it is very well kept and the trails... More
