An interesting exercise in appreciating the smaller and less noticeable orchids in their natural habitats. Lots of information and Costa Rican vanilla pods available for sale.

The Monteverde Orchid Garden is small, but full of many varieties of orchids! I really didn't know anything about orchids except for what I had seen in stores and flower shops. But I now have a new appreciation for these plants and learned so much...More

A smart young man guided me through the garden. I was so surprised to learn of so many different orchids. Most are very small and so pretty unlike the huge smooth ones sold in USA.

The guide told me that one of the lessons they wished to teach was that people get too fixated on the splendid, showy orchids and miss the tiny, beautiful, and biologically incredible species that can be found at all canopy levels when you walk around...More

Take the time for this informative and beautiful tour. We couldn't believe how many varieties of orchids were there - some smaller than a thumbnail, and all simply stunning. This is a hidden gem and worth your time to visit.

When I think of orchids, I think of the phalaenopsis, cattleya, miltonia - all the varieties that we have in the Bay Area - that can be cared for with some success if the conditions are right (sunlight, waterings, potting mixture, fertilizer). How glorious to...More

We went to this place because we like orchids & figured Costa Rica has a good climate for them. We learned SO MUCH about orchids that we didn't know, including that there are more than 35,000 kinds or orchids in the world! We also saw...More

Very good and cozy cafe. Desserts and coffee were very good. Just the right amount of sweetness, and the Turkish Cappuccino it was delicious.
