Unfortunately we had little time to explore the very many exhibits in this extraordinary museum, or rather collection of museums. They cover life from the Anglo Zulu war to recent history providing down to earth views of ordinary life. The exhibits have been lovingly presented and draw you into the stories they tell. We spent much time in the just... More

Would highly recommend a stop at this museum which explains history of Dundee from arrival of indians who came to work in the coal mine to glass making and of course The Talana Battle .

I was in Dundee and went twice - there is masses to see here in terms of exhibits about the town, about Gandhi, the history of mining in the area, WW1, the Anglo-Boer War, the Anglo-Zulu war. So I did two visits. There's a nice little café, spaces to sit outside in the shade and look at the view, plenty... More

The museum has several interesting features spread over a large area. Some indoor and some out. I visited at lunch time and stayed afterwards for a couple of hours. Well worth a visit. The Kwakunje Cultural Village is a must.

Spent a morning here before heading back to Richards Bay. We could have done with more time, since we had to leave by 1300 but only saw less than half of the exhibits.

Don't think that the Talana Museum in Dundee is just about the Anglo Boer War. It isn't. The "museum " is both indoor and outside set in large well kept grounds. It also tells about local history and industry as well as WW1 and Anglo Boer War. The indentured Indian workers in the coal mines and much more. There's a... More

This place is a series of individually themed displays set at the foot of Talana hill and is a great way to spend a few hours and learn a huge amount about the area. The mining displays, Anglo-Zulu and Boer Wars as well sampling life at the turn of the 20th Century were all great. Some of the exhibits are... More
