We vent on hike to Castell D'Alaró fantastic tour. You drive as far as you can, best in a small car, we found a small spot to park by the road before I got too bad. The hike is moderate for person in relativ good condition, remember WATER 2l for 3person, sun cream, caps, sun glasses, good shoe it was... More

Walked up to the castle from Orient - much easier than climbing it from Alaro. The remains of the Moorish fort offer stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys but there's more. If you climb a little further up from the fort, you will come to the beautiful little shrine above where there is a small cafe and picnic... More

I visited Castelld Alaro this January with my sister, we were not at all prepared for the hike :)) Someone suggested that we go see this place, we thought we are just going to drive up there and that's about it. The drive itself is very adventurous with a super tiny, narrow road what is constantly turning 180 degrees if... More

We were there fortunately in December. The "adventure" starts already with the drive to the starting point the sheep farm. Shift down to the first gear although it is a rental car because the road is in a condition that you assume you are on the wrong way. The view during the ride up the mountain is incredible and due... We had a great morning hike to the castle followed by lunch back down at Es Verger. We drove the restaurant on the hair-raising switchbacks to the restaurant, then hiked the rest of the way to the castle. I was a bit embarrassed to have driven any of it in retrospect. Should have walked from town.

The other reviewers are right - it's a curving, narrow drive up to the Restaurante Es Verger, where they don't seem to mind if you park, and then an hour's walk up to the castle, but (if you are wearing good boots) the experience is phenomenal. Pack snacks, pack WATER, and remember that the restaurant doesn't take credit cards (you'll... More

As walks go it's ok, but there are many better on the island and there's not much to see of the castle.

Walked to the Castell from Alaro with a stop en-route for a beer at Es Verger! The view from the summit is beautiful

I've given this 5 stars simply for the views as the trip to the castle without the views wouldn't in my opinion, be worth it as there's not much of it left really. We drove to the car park at Es Verger (the famous restaurant) which was the first challenge as it was potholed and twisty, and scary when we... More
