The perfect place for an aperitivo
May 2020
There’s no better place in town to start your evening and enjoy the golden-hour than Ostuni’s Piazza della Libertà. An aperol spritz, some green olives, peanuts (with a spoon to serve yourself) and taralli. You can’t help but feel Italian.

visit the white washed town
Nov 2019 • Friends
When you drive to Ostuni, park your car and just stroll around, through the streets of white washed houses, parks and piazza. Lovely atmosphere, nice little shops and cafes. Take a walk up to the museum and church. The main piazza is large and beautiful, take a break there, watch the world go by.

Beautiful space

Wonderful open square with historic buildings and lots to look at. Some ruins fenced off in the middle. Great view of the hill of the city on one side.

We went to this beautiful town after visiting Alberobella. What a beautiful town with everything coated in white. Colorful flowers everywhere. We loved it!

Lovely piazza in an ancient town
Jul 2019
This piazza has a special place in my heart because I lived near it for two years in the 1970s! I returned to visit in 2015 after having moved back to America 41 years earlier! Since the 2015 visit I have returned 3 more times because it is such a special town. These days it is a tourist destination, but Ostuni and the Piazza maintain their unique qualities and a much slower pace than the large cities and towns. I love relaxing in Piazza della Liberta where there are many coffee bars and restaurants there and near by. The obelisk with San Lorenzo D'Orosco standing at the very top, is still there, just like back in 1972 when I first saw him! And I expect he has been there for centuries before then. Right next to this piazza you find the entrance of the street that provides an easy walk uphill to Centro Storico, the most ancient part of the area. From there it is a truly majestic view of the Adriatic out beyond the olive orchards. Enjoy!

A perfect Italian Piazza!
Aug 2019
If you stay in Ostuni - make sure you are wishing walking distance of the Piazza! It is the place to be in Ostuni. There are several restaurants/cafes there. The Cafe Centrale has wonderful fruit bowls in the morning. Cafe Ayroldi is the place to go for morning cappuccino and cornets and Garibaldi's is definitely the place for Apertivo, lunch and dinner

The square is not very special. It is a good starting point for visiting the various parts of the city, and you can eat and drink.

A great place to watch the world go by.

This Piazza is a hive of activity, in the areas were there, there was a big band concert, an activity evening aimed at children, and local families use it to gather, eat ice cream. There are a number of restaurant s around the Piazza, all pretty good, if you have the time sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.

Beautiful, open and welcoming
May 2019 • Solo
I kept coming back here each day to enjoy the people watching and the quiet surroundings right in the middle of town. There’s a real sense of local pride you feel here. It’s a wide open space and there’s no need to rush or race thru your stroll here either. Soak it all in, enjoying every moment. Plenty of places for gelato, food, drink or even souvenirs too.

Main Square
Mar 2019 • Couples
You will find a convent of the Church of San Francisco d'Assisi built in 1304 and a tall column dedicated to Sant' Oronzo whose statue stands on top. From the square you can find a street to enter the Centro Storico where there are several restaurants, souvenir shops and hotels along the winding, narrow streets. There is also a bus ticket vendor inside the tabacco shop across the street.
