It was interesting to know that mythological temples were disassembled to provide some of the stones for this Frankish castle built in 1260.

This Venetian castle is limited to a small amount of wall but is interesting to visit as you stroll the streets of Parikia.

I found it sad, and thought-provoking about humanity, to see how invaders ransacked ancient Greek temples and buildings and then used the remains to build their own castle. Seeing the Frankish castle in Parikia is like looking at the cross section of ancient cultures in...More

It was quite interesting to see the design of the castle, but you can only see the outside and after about 2 minutes and a picture or so, you're basically done..

This is a wonderful place to go and see while holidaying on the island of Paros. Parikia has so many wonderful old historical buildings like Frankish Castle. It's well worth taking a look and explore the area.

A castle made with the remains of an ancient temple-located in the centre of Paroikia - easily accessed on foot- worth visiting it
