For lovers of all things beautiful and architecture buffs in particular, taking a stroll through De Haan is an enchanting experience, especially considering the shocking ugliness of most of the Belgian coastal architecture. The arrival of the costal steam tram (1886) was critical to the planned transformation of the seaside hamlet of De Haan (‘the rooster’ in Dutch) into a... More

The concessie was only created in 1860, so no medieval buildings here. However, the town was laid out on an irregular grid with individual plots for villa´s and small hotels. In the meantime there are also a few small scale apartment buildings and not all the houses date from the belle epoque. But, in generally a very nice seaside resort,... More

we went there at lunchtime 25th May and only wanted a light lunch of soup, french fries and drinks, the waitress said abruptly " that will not be possible, we can only serve a full {expensive } three course meal, she then said, " you can sit in the park across the road and drink a beer " ?, I... We always go to De Haan when we go to the beach in Belgium, as it's the only coast town in Belgium without appartment buildings. It has a very special atmosphere, with its typical town houses from the early 1900s. We love to stroll around in the Concessie, just to enjoy the old school architecture of the houses here.

One can hardly say much about a typically catch-the -one day-tourist restaurant. But when you are with children, than it is ok, because they can play in the park across the street.

Staff were particularly welcoming and friendly here, in marked contrast to some of the other restaurants we visited in De Haan. The food was good, and the service was efficient. They coped with our two small children very happily.

We plumped for this restaurant because we were tired and hungry and could not be bothered to look further. So glad we did, it is a family run restaurant with a simple menu. I had the salmon and my husband had steak. Both were served with potatoes and salad, perfect! They were both cooked perfectly, and washed down with a... More

Service and quality of meals depend largely on how much customers are in the establishment! So, when there's little people you can expect the best, but if it's crowded you should go elsewhere!

We never planned to visit this restaurant but when caught out in a thunder storm it was a handy refuge. Good service, typical Belgian coast menu ( a little over priced we thought). Fresh cooked food was well presented and tasty.

Loved the family who owns and manages it. You felt they were almost inviting you to their own home! From our 2 weeks in France and Belgium, that's where my spouse had his best steak. Laid back atmosphere, perfect after a day at the beach.
