there are several ice caves in the area and I was uncertain which ones to visit, but I was so glad we did not miss this one. The combination of gondola ride, hiking and stair climbing makes the journey to the caves part of the adventure. We arrived early and were on the first bus and subsequently the first gondola,... The ice cave is a really interesting and dramatic experience. Getting to it is an adventure in itself, in our case including a train, bus, walk and cable car. The cave is large with 700 steps, but well worth it with helpful guide. We enjoyed the goulash soup in the bar afterwards

The cave is totally dark and lit by small lanterns carried by visitors. The guide shows the most important ice formations with his lantern, but because it's so dark you don't really see that much especially because you have to focus on climbing stairs and watching out for lanterns (some people clearly don't understand that fire actually burns and they... There's plenty of parking, though it does fill up fast and you may have to walk further. It's a 20 min hard walk from the entrance booth to the cable car, then a further 20 min walk to the cave entrance. It was steep and hot and we were very tired by the time we got to the entrance (we... More

40 minutes of steep walking and then more than 1000 stairs in the cave. BUT it is wonderful! Unfortunately, it is not allowed to take pictures inside the cave.

I have visited the cave in august. There are a lot of beautiful views during the trip to the cave and the tour through the cave is interesting as well. I definitely recommend to visit the cave when you are in this area. From my experience, I would recommend to get to the cave approx at 10 am, as -... More

If you havent been to Austria, or Salzburg, this is definitely recommended, though it will take almost an entire day from Salzburg. For us, the journey was as exciting as the destination. Sure, the photos on their website have been light enhanced, which is necessary, 'cause this is a cave and parts of it are relatively dark. But it is... More

Well...went there for the first time and have to say, it was a bit of a disappointment. Bottom line is that the photos provided on their website and Facebook are amazing...vibrant colors and amazing natural ice wonders. The reality is that the actual tour (700 stairs up and 700 stairs down) is mostly in the dark lighted only by your... More

Went here not really knowing what to expect, although the reviews pretty much let you know that there is work involved in seeing the attraction. I liked the differing ways you had to experience getting to the cave itself. First the drive is narrow and winding but very beautiful as is most drives in the Austrian alps. Second is the... More
