A 12th century castle that passed through many owners including Richard 111. Much of it was destroyed in the civil war. The Tudor mansion contains a museum on 2 floors with various interesting artefacts and hands on items. Allow plenty of time to view these....More

Worth a look around when in the area. Well behaved dogs welcome on leads. Note no Cafe on site but plenty in the town.

Over the last few years, we have visited Helmsley and always intended to have a look around the Castle but never came across it. This time, we made this our priority and were not disappointed. Mostly wheelchair accessible and very informative. Well worth a visit.
