About
Palazzo Coronini Cronberg, which now houses the homonymous Foundation established by its last owner, Count Guglielmo Coronini Cronberg (1905-1990), is a historic building dating back to the end of the sixteenth century. Walking through the fifteen exhibition rooms, among which the room where in 1836 the last King of France Charles X of Bourbon stayed and died, visitors are taken back in time, thanks to the warm and charming atmosphere of the rooms with sixteenth-century and seventeenth-century furnishings on the ground floor, to the sumptuous eighteenth-century sitting rooms, to the imperial rooms and to the nineteenth-century environments on the main floor. Knick-knacks, silverware, china, crystalware, photographs, portraits and objects of everyday use re-create the atmosphere of a home where people really seem to live in, feeling the presence of the ancient owners in every room. The villa is surrounded by a wonderful five-hectare English-style park, in which you will see important archaeological finds from Aquileia, an elegant Art Nouveau small temple, rare and precious plants: ash trees, lindens, Himalayan cedars, exotic plants, such as palm trees, loquats, bamboos and a centuries-old cork-oak.

The aristocratic building
Aug 2016 • Family
Not far from the center of Gorizia, there is the Coronini Cronberg building, own by the most important family in Gorizia in the XIX century, strictly related to the Habsburg dynasty and the Romanov (king of Russian) one. The building was also used during the II World War as command by the German and the Allies Army. Inside the building you can feel the richness of this family just seeing to all the furniture and discover amazing stuff (i.e. the hand written greetings of the Tsar Nicholas II to his nephew). The guided tour is with limited people: if you need to have a not Italian tour, it's mandatory to book the visit. The building is open only in limited period: check to Gorizia's Info Point the availability of the visit.
When we visited it, we had the feeling that our guide was in a hurry: she did not allow us to make pictures without flash and she pushed us to follow here room by room, without waiting for us to see all the details of the furniture.
The building is on two floors (no elevators are present) with a comfortable stair.

Palazzo Coronini is one of the most beautiful palace of Gorizia. A jewel, hidden in an elegant park offering art, music, cinema's meetings. I'm fond of this place.

nice park, not far from the town center. Good place to relax or read a book. Worth to visit even if the Villa is closed.
