Climbing Skellig Michael was phenomenal - definitely one of the highlights of Ireland. Skipper Derek and Seanie both gave great narration of the landmarks and wildlife on the boat ride over and made sure everyone was doing OK with the sea travel - two of the friendliest blokes you'll meet. Highly recommend booking with these guys, they made sure it was a great day!

The scenery is superb but Dingle town has little to offer apart from a statue of Charlie Chaplin and a few gift shops,

Great trip with informed and lovely characters running the service. Would highly recommend this company. We got the bonus of being the last boat on Skellig Michael, having it all to ourselves as a small group of 12 people.

What an amazing experience. That place is absolutely stunning, and Seanie and Derek the perfect choice. So kind, taking care of all of us and telling about the Skelligs. I fully recommend it!

We had an amazing time. They were extremely caring and careful. We also made a few detours around Little Skelligs and Puffin Island.

This was an amazing day. Totally one of the highlights of our entire Ireland Trip! Seanie and David were great tour guides. Shared history and knowledge of the area. We felt so fortunate the weather was beautiful and we were able to land and walk to the Monastery. We had families with us on the boat and they started by offering the younger adults to drive the boat - very thoughtful they were so excited. Seanie stayed close and attentive to keep everyone safe. I also tried at the end - a bit of a daunting task! Loved the day, the friendliness of the team. Would go again in a heart beat with them. I did learn that puffins leave early August - so next time -I will go earlier.

Derek and Seanie are very knowledgeable so you not only go to Skellig Michael but you also get a history lesson on Little Skellig, Valentia Island and the surrounding areas. They also search out wildlife - grey seals, gannets, etc. The very best thing though is how well they took care of everyone. When we docked, Seanie decided to hike the steps up to the top, for some exercise, but on his way up, he noticed a girl that was struggling in her descent, and he hurried up to her, and then he walked her all the way back down, just to turn back around and start his ascent again. The entire time with a smile on his face. I also get motion sickness and had taken tablets before the ride over (which was pretty smooth) and then again before our trip back (which was not at all smooth). Both Derek and Seanie kept checking on me multiple times throughout both trips, to ensure that I was ok and to give me tips on getting through them. They provided rain gear or fisherman’s gear (jackets & pants) to everyone who was exposed, for the wet ride back (it was not raining but the waves were rough) and then let people have a turn at steering the boat for a photo op. Well worth the cost and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The guy who won’t leave someone stranded on the steps is the guy I’m giving my money to hands down.

I recommend this boat company to take you out to Skellig Michael. David and Seanie were very friendly, affable and full of information when we were aboard. The Island itself was wonderful and on the return journey they took us round the back of Skellig Michael and to Little Skellig to see the gannets. They really went the extra mile. in lots of ways

Hi Sandra, I am headed out there to Skellig Michael in mid-April of next year, and wonder if any of the operators will let you onto the island a little earlier than the posted season if you get there early and the weather is workable. What was your impression? How would I be able to get the best chance at that?? Thanks!!
VirginiaJean2

I would say pretty definitively no. The season is determined by the Office of Public Works (part Irish governing body) which takes it out of the individual sea captain’s and boating company’s hands.

Does anyone know which boat tour operators to Skelligs Rock have a washroom on their boat? I get seasick, so I want to make sure I have a boat with a washroom just in case :P Thanks so much in advance!
