We booked a Skellig Michael Landing Tour on the Skellig Walker through Skellig Coast Adventures ( who sell tickets on various boats). Skellig Coast Adventures were very helpful when we phoned in helping us choose the best boat. The boat was new and comfortable, with enough seats both inside and outside for everyone on board. The crew were superb, explaining what we were seeing without giving an intrusive running commentary. They took a detour on the way out to the island to spot dolphins. We were on the last boat of the day, which is highly recommended as you get the island almost to yourself at the end of the day.

We took the Skellig Walker out to the Skelligs and had an absolutely amazing time. The boat was spotless, spacious, indoor and outdoor seating as well as a toilet, as none are available once you get out to Skellig Michael. Kav along with the other crewmember (cannot recall his name unfortunately), were most professional and courteous, great sense of humour, and offered much historical and practical information on the islands.
We would highly recommend this fine boat and crew to anybody planning to go out to the Skelligs.
Thank you so much.

My wife and I booked a landing tour four months in advance. Due to poor weather over winter we could not land so an eco tour was substituted. We were happy with this until the day before the tour. We received multiple emails from the company progressively bumping our departure time back from 10:30 to midday. We were told this was due to weather but this turned out to be a lie. Coincidently we were at the boat ramp at 10:30 having breakfast and observed our tour boat leaving. I ran down and asked the captain and he told me the tour was fully booked (we had been double booked obviously but they didn’t admit that). About 30 minutes later I receive another email from the company saying my tour would now be 1pm but with another company (Pat Joe Murphy) which was on an older open style boat, and no where near the standard of Skellig Walker. When j challenge the company they then admitted we were the only two booked for midday and it wasn’t profitable to use their boat for the tour. The alternate boat was emitting Smokey diesel fumes the entire trip and gave both my wife and I a headache for the rest of the day. Joe Murphy was also an awful captain, delayed our departure time for a further 20 minutes while he chatted to his mates at the boat ramp, failed to provide any safety briefing or life jackets (despite every other tour boat having them) and then said a total of 3 sentences during the entire so called ‘eco cruise’. On return the company then charged our credit card full price for the tour despite us being mucked around with departure time, lied too and eventually bumped off our tour and onto an inferior operator. The only compensation we received was a half baked apology and a free drink at the local bar.

I have been holidaying on Valentia Island for 10 years & have watched all my friends & family take the trip to the skelligs. I have never been on a boat without being seasick then along came the Skellig Walker - state of the art purpose built for this journey. The outward journey was very calm & we got there in no time at all - despite the return journey being a little choppy I made it without incident! This boat is fabulous & the skipper & crew could not have been nicer when they heard I hadn’t the best sea legs they minded me for the entire trip. I highly recommend this boat if you’re planning a trip to the skelligs 🤗

On Monday I went on a wonderful trip on the Skellig Walker Luxury Cruise. So comfortable and it was such a solid travel. Amazing seating inside & out with great staff. The captain was so knowledgeable - we gained so much from this trip that we left enriched and smiling! A must see for anyone visiting kerry this summer! Fun for friends & family. 10/10

The Skelligwalker crew gave us an amazing experience from the marina to Skellig Michael and back. Our Captain was simply delightful - an islander like us who told us stories historical and mythical. We had an insanely clear day and smooth waters. The visit to the monastery was beyond magical. The climb was very manageable with plenty of spots to stop and take it all in. This is a very weather dependent adventure. Here’s to clear skies and smooth waters!

Second time landing on skellig Michael. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Enjoyed every minute. Travelled with skellig walker on this occasion. Fabulous boat. Great to see the standard of boat so improved. Skipper and crew were lovely chatty men who added to our trip. I would hope that having such a high tech, powerful boat won't make crew complacent or cocky. There was a slight element of showing off what the boat could do in a foolhardy way. Just no need. Seeing skellig Michael and little skellig is enough. No tricks necessary lads. It isn't worth the risk. Great trip and boat.

The Skelligs have always held my interest, and I'm not a big Star Wars fan. From the point of booking the tour, and the company's excellent communication every step of the way I was impressed, but the tour put them over the top. Simply amazing and that boat is awesome. Newly built in a shipyard locally and meant for touring the Skelligs. Enclosed seating with a toilet onboard, what more can you ask for? The captain was excellent and his narrative on the islands was very informative. Don't hesitate to book with Skellig Walker!

Travelled with skellig walkers twice this summer and have travelled with other operators in the past . While the boats used by other operators have their charms (there is something to be said for the wind blowing in your face and being soaked by the spray!), skellig walkers new boat is undoubtedly a class apart. The boat is covered so you have an indoor airline type seat. It is all very comfortable and the crew are nice local Kerry men.
The only word of warning is that the crossing as you probably heard is often very rough. I found that the enclosed space of the cabin (which meant it was quite warm) plus the fact that it was harder to just stare at the horizon than on a more open boat, meant I felt the trip was tougher from a sea sickness point of view than on the more exposed boats. However that's just my thoughts on what seemed to trigger me!
All in all, well worth booking with. Just remember to take the shiny sunny pics of skellig with a pince of salt to avoid disappoint. There is every chance your view of skellig will be more like the below given the change ability of weather in the Atlantic. The place still has a magic though even in the worst of conditions

Can you use the boat's toilets while its docked at the island for the landing tours? Just thinking of time on the island without a toilet being available.
Written 8 May 2018
No, they drop you off and pick you up 2 hours later. If you use the toilet before disembarking, you should be fine. You’re only on the island a few hours. Just don’t drink a lot of coffee with breakfast!

Saw your post about Nealie on the Mary Frances. I'm curious about the boat -- did it have toilets? any sort of food/water? Inside seats? Outside seats?
Written 30 January 2018
Yes a toilet, full facilities ashore before you board. Water provided. Comfortable, airplane business class style seats inside. Built in seating outside. The newest boat going to Skellig, built locally.
