Amazing Max Švabinský exhibition
Jul 2020
During my visit there was two exhibition. The first one was about old toys. I remember some of them from my childhood, I even use to play with them. It was really lovely exhibition. The second showed the Czech folk traditions throughout the year.

Fantastic part of the musem was an exhibition of Max Švainský art work. You could see a lot of his absolutely amazing paintings and drawings here. I really enjoyed this wonderful exhibition.

The entrance fee to the museum and to all exhibitions was 90,- CZK.

A gold mine of culture and history.

The museum is housed in a wonderful building dating back to the early part of the 17th century. At basement level there is a collection of treasures relating to the towns history. A really eclectic collection which even includes parts of a woolly mammoth. Elsewhere there was a display of historical clocks and timepieces going back over the centuries. On the first floor there is a magnificant display of the works of the Czech artist Max Svabinsky an extraordinary talent. On the second floor a super display showing Czech customs. Most of the information boards are in Czech and English. Staff are extremely helpful and accommadating.

Picture Gallery in Archbishops Palace
Nov 2017
A surprisingly rich collection of European paintings of 16-19 centuries, including Titian's "Flailing of Marsyas", in Archbishop's Palace. There are many signs there that Kromeriz used to be the centre of 17 century political and religious life, - including a huge and very beautiful Archbishop Garden.

Small piece of history

You can learn much about the history of the city if you are interested in. I guess it is more popular for the visitors than for the locals.
