The castle, tower, sala terrena, gallery and garden
Jul 2020
I bought "maxiticket" which included the visit of the castle, tower, gallery and sala terrena (330,- CZK). You can visit the interiors of the castle and the sala terrena only with a guide.

Climbing the tower is not difficult if you walk slowly. The stairs are comfortable, partly stone, partly wooden, spiral and straight. The view of the main square and the city is beautiful from the top.

Sala terrena is a space under the castle. There are three interesting halls and two grottos. Takeing pictures in this part of the castle is alowed.

The castle gallery contains 85 paintings from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. Among other things, you can see here the original painting of Titian (Tiziano Vecellio) "Apollo and Marsyas".

The castle itself is beautiful. All the rooms are simply gorgeous. I really liked the library with four big globes. There are 91.000 books in 35 languages in the castle.

The castle garden is huge. During stroll you can meet peacocks, there is a small animal corner with monkeys and many kinds of birds. The entrance to the garden is free.

Castle is cool, tour is complete crap
Jul 2020 • Couples
"English tour" is in Czech language with you getting some badly translated texts to read by yourself. This was not mentioned when buying the tickets. Without any prior notice or sign or anything we were told we can't take pictures, but Czech people could take all the pictures they could take - what? They didn't put the lights on in most of the rooms. This place has a lot of potential, but the way it is run now, it is simply not acceptable.

Attractive views
Feb 2020
Lovely building from outside and attractive renovated rooms. It is worth to climb the tower for best views of the old town.

Not as famous as the baroque gardens elsewhere in Kromeriz, but perhaps more relaxing.
Aug 2019
A large and spacious park beside the Archbishop’s Palace, these gardens are beautiful to just rest and relax in. There are little lakes and watercourses, a tiny zoo of sorts and a farm for petting animals. Little kiosks serve refreshments near the palace. Statuary and little architectural follies are interspersed amid the trees and flowers of the large gardens. Perfect for a relaxing stroll in Kromeriz.

Beautiful day in Kromeriz
Sep 2019 • Couples
Weather was perfect, when we visited this place and weather component is important, since gardens are outside. If it would be cold and rainy, I would probably go just to palace.
Palace is nice and it has a pretty view from the tower, but garden is beautiful and really big. It takes at least an hour to slowly walk through it.
Next to the palace is also a park. If you have time, go and visit also the park.

Unesco Heritage Site includes 64 ha. of beautiful gardens in a Frech Style
Jun 2019
I've been here 3 times in 10 years and I still have not seen everything there is to see. Then there are also excellent Botanical Gardens on the other side of the main square. There is a lot of history in Kromeriz going back to the 12th Century. The trees and ponds make this place a sea of tranquility

Beautiful but too long
Jul 2019 • Couples
Very interesting art gallery and beautiful representative rooms (unfortunately not fully enjoyable if you are to visit them in a 1h and 1/2 guided tour).

Loved the chateau interiors
May 2019 • Solo
I went to the archbishop chateau (or palace, as it’s sometimes called) on a wet and grey day but loved the two guided tours I took of the interior. They were a breath of fresh air. I did the Terrace Hall tour which took about 20 minutes and later a separate tour of the Hall of Representatives which took about 75 minutes. The terrace hall tour takes you downstairs and the representative tour takes you to two upper levels. Both tours are well worth doing. Unfortunately there were no English speaking tours so I went along the Czech tour and I still enjoyed it as I had written information to take with me and used that while the guide babbled in Czech. It didn’t affect my enjoyment of both tours. The beauty and treasures you see in all the areas are truly magnificent and breathtaking. I felt privileged to be able to see it all. There was so much to see.
I think the hall of terraces tour was my favourite as it was so unusual. There are 5 separate and very different rooms to see in this short tour but they were remarkably ornate and unforgettable. There are actually two grottoes there.
Having done the inside I decided to see the chateau gardens as well but was disappointed with them. Maybe because it was raining and difficult to appreciate it. It was just a park to me with a little bit of fancy hedgework closer to the chateau. Large area of garden with peacocks, ducks roaming around and trees as well as an artificial lake. I didn’t really do it much justice because of the weather.
But if you go to the chateau at all, you must see at least one of the interiors. It is not an Unesco rated building for nothing.

Nice castle (unfortunately close during wintertime)
Feb 2018 • Couples
The Castle, or Bishop's Palace. Inscribed, together with the gardens, in the Unesco world heritage site, it is a good but not outstanding example of princely residence in Europe, while its Pleasure garden is a very rare and largely intact example of Baroque garden. After reaching the castle though we found out it was closed and the opening time was only during the summer.

Chateau and Garden
May 2018 • Solo
The place to visit in Kromeriz. The chateau is architecturally very beautiful and it is organized into group tours and self tours. You must buy tickets to each area of the chateau. The art gallery..a self tour.. is very nice. The gardens are expansive. Unfortunately, when I visited in late May little was in bloom and most looked quite parched. So, I enjoyed a pleasant walk but not through a gorgeous garden that I had anticipated.
