We did a 3 hour morning ride . The horses were really calm so we could look around at the rainforest and wildlife. Saw whiteface monkeys. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the different plants and wildlife. Enjoyed the river and waterfall at the halfway point.

I had the opportunity to do both the 3 hour jungle ride and the 2 hour beach ride with Esteban who is a really great guide!! He is easy to talk to and will take the extra time to show you any animals that may be around. He is very knowledgeable about the different plants, trees, creatures, etc. He is... More

We had a great experience with our guide Esteban. We spent two nice hours walking around the ranch to discover the night wild life. We saw frogs, toads, spiders, birds!

We enjoyed a safe quiet ride into the jungle on well kept horses with a knowledgeable guide. The waterfall is small but refreshing. A lovely, mostly non intrusive way to see the Costa Rican forests. We saw capuchin monkeys and hummingbirds in the same tree and dozens of moving lines of leaf cutter ants. Worth the trip.

Three days ago we took the gorgeous 2 hour sunset horseback tour through the forest to Playa Hermosa. We are novice riders, so our guide Leandro paced our ride accordingly. Our horses were placid and responsive. Two others who joined our group had more experience and they led their horses on a moderate canter on the beach. Leandro was a... More

I finally got to check "running a horse through the ocean waves at sunset" off my bucket list thanks to Rancho La Merced! We did the sunset tour - really fantastic experience. The initial walk through the jungle/forest was incredible because of the size of the trees and the howlers up above and our tour guide explained a lot of... More

My husband and I had a very nice hike in the jungle with Hector. He is very pleasant and knowledgeable, and we saw much more than we would have alone. We both learned a lot. Thanks Hector!

The guides were fantastic but the horseback riding was very slow (as compared to other places where you get to "gallop" to make a bit more exhilarating). Our tourguides took us through the jungle and while it was gorgeous, the end destination to the waterfalls was rather underwhelming.

We have done this tour 3 times. The price is reasonable and the experience has always been good. There is good wild life viewing and the waterfall trip is cool and inviting. The horses are well kept and well behaved. We have not done the beach tour as it appears rather hot but will try when the temperatures are mild.... More

This was a nice thing to do. I've never been on a horse before but it was not a problem. The part were we were riding on the beach in the sunset was really nice. We even saw a monkey on our way back to the ranch! A fun thing to do and the tour took about 2 hours.
