About
Skye Weavers are a small weaving and sewing business based on the Hebridean Isle of Skye. On their bicycle pedal-powered loom they weave a variety of woollen products including scarves, blankets, throws and wraps. They also make tweed, which they sell as lengths and make up into garments, cushion covers, bags and accessories. Check the opening hours on the website, if you would like to watch the weavers at work and have a browse through the shop.

A magical little spot!
Aug 2019
What a fun trip we had to Skye Weavers. We learned how the textiles are made and even had a go at pedaling the loom. I love the inspiration from nature seen in the lichen pattern - so beautiful. It's so lovely to see that these beautiful things are still made by hand. Love what you do!

Thank you very much! I'm glad you like what we're doing and our inspiration behind the product. The grey lichen pattern wraps are coming on nicely as the loom seems to be very well behaved at the moment :-)

This is a small, quirky little place that we stumbled on in the rain. I learned about weaving! And bought some stuff, too!

Very nice!

A visit to Skye Weavers is a special experience. Very kind people who will show you the whole process - and that in a very outgoing way. We were allowed to ask every question. It was funny to see the man weaving using a sort of bicycle. The shop - also a sweet little building - has different beautiful things.
Will definitely visit again!

Their work is gorgeous. They draw on nature to create their palettes. And they show you their loom and process. A must see and must shop. And they ship!

Thank you very much for visiting us and recommending our business. I'm glad you like our work. We've just started the process of working on next year's Skye Wool colour palette. Yellow lichens (Xanthoria parietina) are top of the list at the moment.

Superb quality Scottish weaving and product choices; our favourite spot on Skye!

This artisan workshop with store produces exceptionally fine woven products both beautiful and useful. Our visits, one today and a previous three years ago, have been aesthetic and engaging experiences. The "shop" consists of several small, single-function buildings in which the processes of warping, weaving, etc., are done plus a small separate shop with finished items. We especially enjoy the enthusiastic owner couple and their generous sharing of their production time to chat and explain the various things they do. (Wonderful individuals!)

In addition the location provides glorious views of the Glendale village, surrounding area, and ocean. The products are varied, attractive, and useful. Considering the labour-intense process and quality the prices are very reasonable and at a wide variety of levels.

There is an adequate parking area down a narrow driveway with room for about five or six vehicles. I mention this because if two or more arrive together it is prudent to allow ample space between each while descending the driveway so each can park without being hemmed in by the one behind, especially if another happens to be leaving at the same time.

The shops are accessible with ramps for wheeled personal carriers, but the descents to the shops are steep so need strength to manoeuvre.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review about our business. We're really glad you enjoyed your second visit here. It was very nice talking to you again. It's always nice to meet someone who's already been to visit before; it's a great reminder for us of how much has happened in the last couple of years. We hope to see you again in the future. Best wishes, Andrea & Roger

Unexpected gem
Apr 2019 • Couples
Our B&B hosts (Hillstone Lodge) recommended stopping at Skye Weavers on our way to Neist Point. Glad we did. Roger and Andrea showed us around and were incredibly friendly and informative. We tried our hand at the pedal powered loom as well. They have some beautiful woven items for purchase but were not pushy about it at all.

Beautiful weaving
Mar 2019 • Couples
Stopped by this local weaving shop. Was shown how the loom worked - really amazing as the weaver was pedaling like a bicycle to get the loom to weave. Beautiful items for sale .... purchased a tartan scarf made there at reasonable price. Well worth a visit.
